What's this with Gloria Allred trying to get some sleaze on Romney by forcing a court to unseal decades old divorce records of one of Romney's friends in which Romney testified as to the value of some stock that was part of the divorce settlement?
I'm guess the 0b0ts want to see if they can try to use Romney's stock valuation in some way to show that he is a misogynist.
Talk about an extreme stretch. But the Romney namecallers don't need any steenkeeng facts. Even though over 500 economists, including several Nobel Laureates, signed a petition that the Romney/Ryan plan was far superior to anything the Democrats had, the Greek chorus has been out in force shrilling that the Republican ticket is 'lying' about their economic plan, although how such a claim can be substantiated over something that could not come to be except some years in the future should cut these namecallers off at the knees.
If this is all the sleaze that the Democrats can get on Romney, why are they even trying to exploit this?
Allred is proof that convicted felon John Edwards is not the lowest form of legal life. 44786. concerned - 10/25/2012 1:36:51 AM Romney factoid: When he put his dog in a pet carrier on his car's roof, he included a fairing to break the wind before it hit his pet.
I'd rather travel on top of Romney's car than through 0bama's colon, in either case. 44787. judithathome - 10/25/2012 1:49:06 AM Jesus...18 posts unanswered and you sink to a colon joke? A ridiculous and very unfunny one, to boot.

"Colin Powell, former secretary of state under President George W. Bush, endorsed President Obama for re-election in 2012, saying that he supported him in 2008 and will "stick with" Obama in 2012. Powell made the announcement in an appearance on "CBS This Morning" Thursday.
"I voted for him in 2008 and I plan to stick with him in 2012," Powell said.
Powell cited several reasons for the endorsement, namely the economy and foreign policy. On the economy, Powell said Obama has turned things around from the crisis in 2008, saying "I think generally we've come out of the dive and starting to gain altitude." Powell said Romney's solution to the economy is "essentially let's cut taxes and compensate for that with other things," adding that the compensation doesn't cover all the cuts.
On foreign policy, Powell called Romney a "moving target" who contradicted his previous positions in Monday night's foreign policy debate, including on when to pull out of Iraq and Afghanistan. Conversely, Powell said he approved of Obama's move to get us out of those countries and said his efforts to protect the United States from terrorism have been "very, very solid."
Finally, Powell said he was more comfortable with Obama's policies on a range of issues including climate change, immigration, education, and his view that 'Obamacare' should stay in place."

44789. Wombat - 10/25/2012 3:23:04 PM Damning with faint praise:
A Romney endorsement...
"Don't assume that it was a no-brainer for a conservative newspaper to endorse a conservative presidential candidate. We recognize and are grateful for the extraordinary contribution President Obama made to Michigan in leading the rescue of General Motors and Chrysler…
We have said in past editorials that while Romney rightly advocated for structured bankruptcies in his infamous "Let Detroit Go Bankrupt" New York Times op-ed, he was wrong in suggesting the automakers could have found operating capital in the private markets. In that article, Romney suggested government-backed loans to keep the companies afloat post bankruptcy. But what GM and Chrysler needed were bridge loans to get them through the process, and the private credit markets were unwilling to provide them...
Had Obama done as well with the rest of the economy, it would be hard to deny him a second term."

I don't agree with that. Since these loans would be guaranteed by the Federal government, there would be little or any risk to private sector corporations in providing these loans, and they would actually appear quite attractive for that reason given the tight credit environment resulting from the real estate collapse. 44791. concerned - 10/25/2012 5:45:24 PM Btw, this is the way I've always advocated that the Federal Government handle the real estate crisis itself. Federally guaranteed loans being made available to financial institutions that feel that they need them to stay afloat. There is really no downside to this approach compared to what was actually done with TARP and a number of advantages to having done this instead. In fact, that was the Republican version of the 'bailout' that Democrats summarily dismissed (the same people who were later perfectly willing to pass health care takeover legislation without even having read any of it!). 44792. concerned - 10/25/2012 5:57:57 PM I seem to recall that 0bama let GM and Chrysler go bankrupt. In fact, the NYT says 0bama 'forced' them into bankruptcy.
Quick Google hit:
Apr 30, 2009 – President Obama forced Chrysler into federal bankruptcy protection on Thursday so it could pursue a lifesaving alliance with the Italian ...
So, it's extremely intellectually dishonest and hypocritical to point fingers at Romney for writing up something that 0bama actually did later, sort of like Romneycare.
I can say that I'm not in favor of the hypocritical shortsightedness the 0bama camp continually shows and that Romney as an individual is above. 44793. concerned - 10/25/2012 8:39:49 PM I was able to do a mortgage refi at 4.625% right in the January - March 2009 timeframe without any trouble, so I don't buy that there was 'no credit available' then. My credit was pretty good but it wasn't 800+ or anything like that. 44794. concerned - 10/25/2012 8:47:54 PM And I was between jobs then, too (early hope'n'change), so it was a little iffy, but I got the refi. 44795. concerned - 10/25/2012 8:53:14 PM Serial liar 0bama calls Romney a 'bullshitter' in a Rolling Stone interview, according to Politico. Romeny/Ryan Whistle For The Dogs 44798. concerned - 10/25/2012 11:53:10 PM I'm not exactly complaining about 0bama here.
And let's get off of the idea that blacks=poor people here. Most poor people are white and I don't see any reason to pretend otherwise now merely because it's PC to refer to 'dog whistles'.
I'll go so far to say that trying to replace whatever worthwhile dialogue there is with partisan concerns (PC) works against solving the problem. We now have higher poverty than since the '60's, over 15% of Americans are on food stamps, the private sector has been moribund for the last four years and average household income has dropped nearly 10% in real dollars over the same period.
IMO, the only way in which this 'leveling' approach can even simulate 'working' in the long term is to bring the average American economically much closer to subsistence level. And hardly anybody wants that, do they? 44799. concerned - 10/26/2012 6:53:12 PM Anybody catch the new Lena Dunham 0bama ad on Youtube?
