Those just aren't that much fun anymore.

Rats!

6004. judithathome - 3/6/2004 12:56:08 AM

Or...maybe they are!!

Here is a TIME report that touches on today's health topic...

6006. arkymalarky - 3/6/2004 3:40:01 AM

I'll have to find that issue. It's really interesting. I hope on the dental hygiene maintenance is adequate, and I wonder what it says about sinus inflammation in particular. I think my gums are harder to maintain than most people's, but I do keep up with them--except I'm way overdue for a cleaning because I've been so busy. It's one in a long list of spring break things I'm planning to do.

Arky,

Bumped over here after your comment in the Cafe. I tell ya, sinuses and teeth are weird, as you know, apparently. I had a heck of time a few years ago, (and with Military doctors, who I have to say were outstanding).

To make it short....I begged the dentist to pull some back teeth. He refused because he could find nothing wrong. The doctor gave me every sinus cure short of surgery. The dentest finally relented since I needed a wisdom tooth extracted anyway. ....Well that helped a little. But here's the weird part. After suffering headaches and earaches and toothaches for about 8 months, I caught a terrible cold, and I drained for about two weeks - yuck!

Alas, no more sinus problems. I have since been convinced of the evolutionary necessity of the commoon cold.

6008. arkymalarky - 3/6/2004 8:41:22 AM

Lands. My teeth have hurt from sinuses. Sometimes it does seem to work its way into an infection and clean out. Bob does that, but then he rarely has sinus problems.

6009. anomie - 3/6/2004 8:46:10 AM

I'm not so sure they know how to diagnose actual infection. But I tell you, I was totally confused. Teeth or sinuses?

After a while it didn't matter. Relieving the pressure was the only desire. Fortunately I didn't lose any cosmetic teeth, but still. Relief!

And then that savior cold. I've been pretty much okay since.

Well, last night was my first with the Electronic Bone Healing device and I must say, I feel like an idiot using it. It smacks of The Road To Wellville and I am hoping this gizmo works because wearing it 10 hours a day seems like a lot of effort to invest for a quackery item.

6011. robertjayb - 3/12/2004 5:28:44 AM

Do you plug it in or does it run on batteries? Does it interfere with TV reception?

Seriously, I hope it does well for you and that you are soon back doing the tango.

6012. judithathome - 3/12/2004 5:46:22 AM

It's got a battery pack....but it only interferes with sleep, not TV.

And that's because the area where the break is is so awkwardly placed...I'll have to remember that next time I break a bone in my leg. Don't break it so near the ankle.

I have to place the device almost on the top of my instep to cover the end of the break and leaving that in position for 10 hours wears thin after about 45 minutes. I guess I'll get used to it but it was agravating the first night.

6013. anomie - 3/12/2004 11:28:23 PM

Judith, Hope it speeds up the healing, in any case.

Which leg and foot is it, might I ask?

My knee and ankle aches occur in my right leg. I'm beginning to associkate it with all those years of long car trips without cruise control. Gotta be something there, ya think?

6014. judithathome - 3/13/2004 12:34:10 AM

It's my left leg.

I am really dreading seeing my doctor next month...my uncle, who is a professor of anatomy at the medical school here and who had my doctor as a student, CALLED HIM yesterday and said I had told him that I felt his bedside manner left a lot to be desired. I thought my uncle was going to ask him about my fracture! Oh well, it's the truth...this guy is cocky and very uninvolved, compassionwise.

Not that I need special treatment but a little explanation would go a long way. He just swans in, looks at the xrays, and says "hmmmmmm" and "see you in four weeks".

6015. judithathome - 3/13/2004 12:34:39 AM

And I can't stand that he calls me "Babycakes".

6016. Jenerator - 3/17/2004 6:31:24 AM

Is it possible to have Tourette's Syndrome in your sleep? I ask this seriously.

Does anyone know?

6017. judithathome - 3/17/2004 6:33:00 AM

No, he just needs potassium.

6018. judithathome - 3/20/2004 4:43:50 AM

Man, talk about putting a damper on your weekend. I had a mammogram last week and today received a notice that "your examination showed a finding that requires additional imaging studies forcomplete evaluation. Most such finding's are benign (not cancer)."

6019. Linnea - 3/20/2004 5:31:02 AM

I hope you get a clean bill of health, Judith.

6020. judithathome - 3/20/2004 5:34:33 AM

I'm sure it's nothng but it's maddening having to go back when I was all smug and thinking it was over for another year. I feel that if they were truly concerned, they would have called rather than send it out in the mail.

We're going to a spring solstice party tonight and were requested to bring something to burn on the bonfire. I'm taking that letter.

6021. SnowOwl - 3/20/2004 5:55:34 AM

Sorry to hear that, Judith. I've had that before and it turned out to be absolutely nothing, but it's a nuisance having to return, and it's hard to escape the nagging feeling of "what if..".
