Mom came through surgery fine yesterday...thank goodness. No broken ribs and she actually looked good. Amazing considering she's almost 82. Doc saw no signs of it spreading to lymph nodes and removed the entire lobe of her lung. She was set up with the epidural pump, but as of last night, hadn't used it.

I had a heart attack though...while she was having surgery, the power went out! Fortunately it was brief, the OR backup generators kicked in and doc said it caused no disruption in the procedure at all. Whew!

Good for her!
Was it anticipated to remove a lobe of her lung?

21256. Magoseph - 3/2/2007 4:20:06 PM

Great news, thoughtful--which lung was it and which lobe was removed?

21257. wabbit - 3/2/2007 4:31:13 PM

That's great news, t'ful!

21258. wonkers2 - 3/2/2007 5:12:32 PM

Glad for the good news, thoughtful!

thanks guys.
Lower right lobe
well removing the whole thing was a possibility...tumor was large enough and centrally located in the lobe that taking it all made sense. It also greatly reduces the risk or recurrence vs. taking a wedge.

Wow, that sounds really good, Thoughtful! Keep us posted!

Why thank you, Mags! But in my least busy Fray/Mote days I wasn't a very dependable Cafe person. I'm still very much at work (five preps+ESL) through the end of May, but compared to what I have been doing, my job and two reasonable graduate classes and a few other events, including a Praxis II test and graduation, don't look like a bad spring schedule.

Beautiful couple, Mags!

Indeed!

21265. wonkers2 - 3/3/2007 6:47:06 PM

Yes! Your son and his bride?

21266. alistairConnor - 3/3/2007 7:39:30 PM

Woo-hoo!

A very handsome couple!

21267. arkymalarky - 3/3/2007 10:16:58 PM

Gorgeous!

21268. Magoseph - 3/3/2007 11:23:30 PM

Thank you all--yes, wonk, that's my baby--Keoni says that he looks like me--I can't see it, but he has my eyes.

21269. judithathome - 3/4/2007 6:17:22 AM

Keoni knows whereof he speaks, Mags...he used to be an investigator and took classes in face recognition.

21270. arkymalarky - 3/4/2007 4:13:06 PM

How's Leslie, Judith?

21271. judithathome - 3/4/2007 9:17:16 PM

He is going to the vascular surgeon on Tuesday. He may have another clot in his leg.

21272. wonkers2 - 3/4/2007 9:35:22 PM

Just out of curiosity what are the symptoms of blood clots in the legs? I get pains in my right upper leg when I sit a lot or on long plane flights and worry about clots.

21273. judithathome - 3/4/2007 10:15:07 PM

There's pain in the artery and he said the front part of his foot and his toes are numb...
