The banks have one thing going for them that the Michigan parasites don't

They've never sold The Mark of Excellence

Only if you're buying. And if you pay my way out there.

And back.

Judith's car is great, and Bob loves his Hyundai and I love my Honda. I don't feel an obligation to buy American in the current environment. Between the govt and mgmt there is no reasonable way to expect that kind of loyalty. However I very much agree with Wonk. Workers first, investment bankers last. The whole corporate culture of nothing but orgies needs a complete overhaul or we're done for. There ought to be a formula for corporate compensartion tied to profits. "They deserve it because they can get it" can no longer suffice as a basis for corporate behavior.

And it's not the jets, but the cluelessness of the Big Three CEOs in general. I'll say it again: any gvt money should come to any corporation under condition of firing current management. If that causes them not to seek the money, then so be it.

Do any Motie's actually own an American car?

We have a Toyota and an Infiniti (Nissan)

40505. arkymalarky - 11/24/2008 2:15:02 AM

We have an American truck.it's a '92 Chevy S10 and it's been great. I wouldn't hesitate to buy another American car based on my criteria and research. My car was the only one its size with a 5 star crash rating and gets between 35 and 40 mpg. It didn't pay to get a hybrid and it's the only new car I've ever bought and I got it sight unseen because it was a good price. We run our cars into the ground. I frankly hope to buy only one other car in my life and I will use the same approach I always have. If it's American, great.

Screw Detroit!

We could own Citi for less than they're begging for!

    Citi considers ‘bad bank’ plan

Citigroup is working on a plan to stabilise the bank that is expected to include transferring tens of billions of dollars in distressed assets to a government-owned vehicle for at least several years, people familiar with matter said on Sunday.

The “good bank-bad bank” structure being discussed by Citi and US regulators resembles the October plan under which UBS said it would shift up to $60bn of illiquid securities to a fund owned by the Swiss National Bank, said a major Citigroup shareholder who was briefed on the plan by someone with direct knowledge of it.
    E...

Citi’s board has been considering alternatives for the bank after its share price fell 60 per cent last week, closing Friday at $3.77 a share. At that level, the bank’s market value is about $20bn.

NyT

BARACK OBAMA may have figured out a way to stimulate the economy even before taking office: by being elected.

Merchandise commemorating, celebrating and — in some instances — practically canonizing Mr. Obama is being sold by companies large and small, institutional and entrepreneurial, familiar (Time Inc.) and not so (the American Historic Society).

Consumers have already spent perhaps as much as $200 million on Obamabilia, two months before he will be inaugurated as the 44th president and another tidal wave of tchotchkes will be unleashed.

tchotchkes?!

Jexter, I'll never buy a California wine again--only French, Italian, Chilean, Australian and German. Although they cost a fair amount more the quality is better and they come with heated seats unlike those California wines.

More money to bail our CitiGroup, one of the great criminal enterprises of the century CitiGroup $

Rubin, according to the NYT was in the middle of the CDO binge that led to CitiGroup's downfall. And when he was Sec.Treasury he pushed for deregulation of of banking.
