You two are amazing.

QUESTION: If Biden were to win the primary, should he choose Warren for VP in the hopes of forming a "Unity" ticket. (left + Establishment) I ask my teenage son (who is very politically savvy) if young people will turn out for Biden and he says No! I ask if they would turn out for Sanders and he says Yes! History seems to show that young people can't be counted on to show up generally, but in an election like this, even a few precent more young people might make the difference. I ask my son if young people would show up for Warren and he says yes so I ask if they would show up if Warren were VP on a ticket with Biden and he says maybe. So, my question is, would Biden/Warren constitute a unity ticket that would bring out both left wing and establishment voters? Of course, it could end up that Warren will win the primary and I don't know if legally Biden could run for VP again. (and the dynamics of a Warren VP pick seem pretty different anyway)

Interesting. A year ago I thought Warren was unelectable.

btw, Happy (belated) Birthday to the Mote, I think it was 20 years ago yesterday we went live.

Yeah, same here. Her polling has improved a lot. Still not sure how she would fare in a general election matchup with the voters who will show up, in the states that will decide the election.

Wow, 20 years!

Hi all - I know it's been a few years, I can't believe I remember my password!

Anyway - I hope all of you are doing well. I sincerely wish you the very best and that you're enjoying life.

47266. arkymalarky - 9/24/2019 7:16:22 PM

Hey Jen! How have you been doing? Great to see you.

47267. arkymalarky - 9/24/2019 7:17:26 PM

Since this is politics thread which is why I popped in here, looks like shit is finally hitting fan.

47268. winstonsmith - 9/27/2019 1:31:10 AM

Wow, looks like they are actually going to impeach him in the house! Still does not seem likely the Senate will remove him but he will at least go down in history as one of the few who were impeached.

47269. winstonsmith - 9/27/2019 1:33:20 AM

If somehow, he was convicted in the senate and removed before the election, could he still run again in 2020?

47270. winstonsmith - 9/27/2019 1:35:45 AM

47271. winstonsmith - 9/27/2019 1:36:26 AM

hmm, looks like people on Politico and elsewhere are saying that he could run again

47272. arkymalarky - 9/27/2019 3:19:03 PM

There's nothing in the Constitution that says he couldn't. I'm shifting how I think about all of this. I think it's very possible the Senate could remove him and if they do he won't be back. If McConnell had to choose between keeping a senate majority and keeping Trump he would keep the Senate majority in a heartbeat.

47273. arkymalarky - 9/27/2019 3:20:27 PM

I also think McConnell's looking at the prospect of trying to control that idiot for 4 more years. I don't think he really relishes the idea.

47274. arkymalarky - 9/27/2019 3:21:34 PM

I also wouldn't be surprised if he resigns with a sour grapes rant. I think if he weren't scared of going to jail that's what his preference would be. Because a lot of shit that he has been successfully keeping in the dark up to now is going to be exposed.

47275. winstonsmith - 9/27/2019 9:29:15 PM

Can you imagine all those people who were on that call and all their assistants and other staff lawyering up and having to deal with Trumps mood? All of them just waiting to be called to testify. Trying to figure out how to parse their testimony to put them in the least jeopardy. The White House will be trying to coach them and threatening them. They will be in a vice between perjury and Trump's vindictiveness.

47276. winstonsmith - 9/27/2019 9:32:39 PM

I suppose The White house will try to assert executive privilege for most of them in the hopes of keeping the from testifying.
