Maybe they just didn't want to disturb you early. Have you told them they could start at dawn?

10273. PelleNilsson - 7/12/2004 11:40:11 PM

You can in fact adjust the properties of the keyboard. Go to Control Panel, select Printers and other hardware, and then keyboard.

10274. judithathome - 7/12/2004 11:45:16 PM

No, Mags, it wasn't that...the owner just came by and has called them and chewed them out. He said they always start late but he expected them by 9 and when they still weren't here by 9:30, he called them. They were at the dump getting rid of the refuse from yesterday's job. I guess they work so late, they have to discard stuff from the previous day's work in the mornings rather than late in the day, like most people would do.

This owner is such a charmer...he told me I was looking particularly "beautiful" this morning. Ha!

jay --- the first time I made that mistake too.

Polish coffee is prepared like Turkish coffee. The difference is that for Turkish one uses a very fine grind, like flour, but the Polish is coarse and takes longer to settle.

I have moved.

Now I rest.

Well done that girl.

10278. Ms. No - 7/13/2004 12:43:21 AM

Thanks! I'm quite pleased!

10279. Macnas - 7/13/2004 12:48:46 AM

I'll have a drink for you later on, you've earned it.
I might even have 2 for you.

10280. Absensia - 7/13/2004 12:51:26 AM

Ms. No, great news. After your apartment disasters I hope this turns out to be wonderful. Lord knows you deserve it.

10281. Magoseph - 7/13/2004 12:58:35 AM

Is Juds around? Hi, Abs1

10282. Magoseph - 7/13/2004 1:00:21 AM

Yes, good news, Ms.No. Now enjoy the rest of summer.

10283. Absensia - 7/13/2004 1:20:24 AM

Hey, Mago.

10284. judithathome - 7/13/2004 1:33:59 AM

Ahhhhh!!! Magos, how well you know me! Thanks! A little piece of heaven in a really LOUD day.

I should have booked myself at the Day Spa with Klaus.

Congrats on the new place, MsNo...we'll all be over for a surprise house warming.

10285. Ms. No - 7/13/2004 1:41:28 AM

Excellent plan, Mac! I had one myself last night but fell asleep in the middle of it.

10286. Ms. No - 7/13/2004 1:42:57 AM

Thanks, Abs! Yes, I am nearly shut of the old place entirely. I slept there last night because it was just easier logistically but I should be completely cleared out and cleaned up this evening. Hooray!!!

10287. Ms. No - 7/13/2004 1:50:53 AM

Juditha,

I'm already planning the open house --- although I'm going to have to have a yard sale before then.....and aquire a couch and some chairs. Currently the only place to sit besides the floor or my bed is the toilet or two theatrical cubes. Not very welcoming.

Kaykaye is coming down at the end of the month to visit. I'll let her opt out of the unpacking, but she comes highly recommended by another friend of ours for such chores. She's also got an eye for decorating which I will take advantage of.

I wanted to try and get the bedroom painted before all the furniture was brought over, but it didn't happen. It's fairly easy to pile everything in the middle of the room and paint around it, though, so that's what I'll likely be doing this weekend.

I also want to paint the bathroom which is currently some shade of batchelor beige. I got the all-clear from my landlord to paint and send him the bill for materials. He thinks he's getting a great deal since he doesn't have to do it himself. I feel like I'm getting a great deal since I can paint whatever I like --- colors, faux finishes etc.

Of course all I want to do right this minute is crawl into bed and sleep for a week. ;->

Salut, Francophiles!

Are you storming any public buildings in honour of the day Mago?

10290. Magoseph - 7/13/2004 8:08:18 PM

Mac, I could have gone to this last weekend, but we had out-of-state guests for whom France is a traitor country: STORM THE BASTILLE

10291. Magoseph - 7/13/2004 8:50:15 PM

The Bastille Days' festival was well-attended this year as it was last year when the French bashing was at its peak. This morning, in contrast, this is what we read front page this morning in the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel and happened last Saturday:

The disturbance at this year's Greek Festival appeared to be a coordinated effort by as many as 200 young people to disrupt the festival, intimidate patrons and elude police, Wauwatosa police said Tuesday.
Capt. Jeff Sutter told a Common Council committee that a group dressed alike in solid white T-shirts and dark pants, with some wearing whistles, converged on the festival and broke into smaller groups that harassed isolated or intoxicated patrons.

In one case, he said, a group of about 50 to 100 people began encroaching on officers, pelting them with plastic bottles and trash, as they tried to arrest a woman on a disorderly conduct charge. The officers were able to escape with the woman through a line of motorcyclists who "formed a shield" between police and the teens, Sutter said...Police received reports of shots fired, property damage, cruising and an attempt to overturn a Milwaukee County Transit bus.

Both police departments issued an "all city assist," meaning all available police cars were sent to the scene, and the Milwaukee County Sheriff's Department also responded. At least three officers were injured.

For heavens' sake, why? The article doesn't say.
