I would be a welcome guest because each time I would eat a good lunch, I would come back with one of the antique bibelots I have. 10333. Magoseph - 7/15/2004 2:01:18 AM Such handsome kids you have, Wonk, I heartily congralutate you and Mrs. Wonkers. 10334. judithathome - 7/15/2004 2:02:08 AM You'd be a great guest without bringing anything but yourself! 10335. wonkers2 - 7/15/2004 2:56:55 AM Cap'n Dirty sez, "Ya kin say that agin! Mago has a standin' invitation fer a moonlight cruise aboard the Tomater Sloop. Judith's welcome too!" 10336. arkymalarky - 7/15/2004 2:59:39 AM H'lo all!
You're a sweetie, Mac. 10337. judithathome - 7/15/2004 3:01:13 AM Hey, Arky!
10338. arkymalarky - 7/15/2004 3:05:02 AM Hey Judith! Howz things?
I just got back from an allergy shot. The nurse asked me if I was noticing any different. I told him I wasn't really, but we'd been on a dry vacation. I'm doing better from how I was initially with a chronic infection, but I haven't noticed a reduction in reactions. I go back to the allergist next week. I was told not to really expect results for several weeks or months. Things are MUCH better in the house, though. 10339. arkymalarky - 7/15/2004 3:05:31 AM difference 10340. arkymalarky - 7/15/2004 3:07:14 AM IOW my sinuses were much dried out and much better from the vacation, which is a very good thing, but I don't know that the shots have made any difference in my allergic reactions, so they may clog up again now that I'm back in the jungle.
I'm too groggy to communicate this morning. 10341. arkymalarky - 7/15/2004 3:07:58 AM I mean, this afternoon.
We're out of coffee here. Bet y'all couldn't tell. 10342. wonkers2 - 7/15/2004 3:09:26 AM The Cap'n sez, "A moonlight cruise'd clear up yer sinuses in no time!" 10343. arkymalarky - 7/15/2004 3:11:36 AM Ha, all that salt, I know. 10344. Ms. No - 7/15/2004 3:40:35 AM Bored bored bored bored bored.
and antsy!
I just want to get home and start painting so I can unpack and settle in. Have I waxed rhapsodic yet over the fabulous water pressure in my shower?
I found the local dog park and took Billietta there yesterday afternoon to run around. I've done three loads of laundry and started sorting boxes into their appropriate areas but can't put anything away in the kitchen until I paint.
The shelves are covered in a hideous blue checked and flowered paper that saw it's best days about 10 years ago. Fortunately it seems to come up pretty easily but the insides of the cupboards are badly in need of fresh paint before I line them again. I like that rubber matting stuff that can be taken out, washed and wiped under.
I've sworn not to buy a couch or even any shelving units until I've unpacked at least half my boxes. I need to have a major yard sale in the next couple of weeks.
The kitchen shelves and bedroom will get painted this weekend and if I'm particularly industrious I may manage the bathroom as well.
I've got a Girls Night Out gathering tonight but I may have just enough time between work and going out to set up the entertainment center, connect the electronics and empty a couple of boxes.....although I should probably wait to do that until I paint the living room.
Only I don't know yet what color I want to paint it. Suppose I'll have to wait and work on the stuff I do know first.
itchy twitchy itchy! 10345. Ms. No - 7/15/2004 3:46:46 AM The only thing I really lack is storage space. There are only two closets in the whole place so I'm trying to figure out where I'm going to store my camping gear. I may have to invest in some kind of armoire for the living room.
Question: Does anyone know how to lift out white marks (heat and water stains) from a wooden table? Other than sanding down and refinishing, that is. Will copious amounts of Murphy's and elbow grease get me anywhere? 10346. arkymalarky - 7/15/2004 3:51:50 AM Wow, MsNo, that's exciting. You ought to post pictures and let Moters make suggestions just for fun in The Good Life. You know that moving and redoing an apartment are no big deal and you have all the time in the world to do stuff like that! ;-)
Or you could do before/after pictures.
Did I mention Mose is considering interior design as a major? I was going to let her practice here, but discovered she's a Design Nazi, so it didn't work. Surely she won't be that way with people who aren't her mom. 10347. arkymalarky - 7/15/2004 3:52:38 AM The guy to answer that is Rick, if he can find time with the new baby to see the question. 10348. Ms. No - 7/15/2004 4:30:16 AM Oh! Good idea Arky! I've got some before pictures and I should take some "during" just so people will be really really impressed when I'm done. "How on earth did she manage to unpack and put away that colossal mountain of stuff???"
I'm really not much of a decorator --- my old roommate Cat was excellent at that kind of thing --- but I think maybe I'll do okay. I've got a couple friends in town who'll have good suggestions and kayekay is coming in a couple of weeks and she's a whiz!
10349. wabbit - 7/15/2004 4:31:55 AM Ms. No,
Try here.
If it is a wood table with a wax finish, toothpaste (not the gel kind) might be abrasive enough. Otherwise, maybe extra fine steel wool rubbed with the grain.
Then there is the mayonnaise and wood ash trick. Don't know if that works and wonder how it smells a week later. 10350. Ms. No - 7/15/2004 4:31:58 AM hahaha, yeah, I can imagine how Mose might get twisted over redecorating a house that she grew up in and you'll still be living in. Those are power struggles that you just don't need to get into. ;->
