Our lawnmower conked out, but Joe brought us one and he's now mowing the front lawn for his step-dad. As soon as he has finished, we'll go to his place and cool off righ here, this time only the four of us:

You appear to have a pretty big swimming pool.

Lake Michigan, you Frenchy! About time you are back, Ali. How did your bicycling go?

Very lovely, Mags. I love sitting out on a nice day just looking at the water. I'm envious.

Bob bush-hogged the other day (not nearly like mowing), the first time the lawn had been cut in about three weeks. It rained so much that our neighbor who was going to mow for us while we were gone couldn't. He's going to mow again as soon as they deliver the mower Monday afternoon.

Bob's riding mower's messing up, but he'll get that fixed even though he got this other mower. I don't go outside for all that any more. My allergies are better, but partly because I'm really staying away from the outdoors, especially with all the mowing. I'm highly allergic to virtually every grass that grows here.

Day before yesterday, we were riding the trails of a southern Jura ski station, and Daniel, the local lad among us, led us an extra kilometre over rough alpine pasture to where we had a view over the Big Lake, with Geneva's downtown fountain clearly in view, and the Mont Blanc squarely behind it.

You'll have to take my word for it. No photo, my batteries conked out due to the cold and humidity of the early days. But I'll try to get a picture from one of the others.

Hey Alistair! Hope you didn't skin any knees in your adventures.

If you haven't already done so, go read Angle 5's posts in the Inferno. Always a treat to read him...something not to be missed.

10388. Magoseph - 7/18/2004 3:57:15 AM

I was the first one who answered him.

10389. Magoseph - 7/18/2004 3:59:34 AM

In one of the other threads maybe, I should add.

Hello, Ali, Pelle, and Mac!

I like to start the day reading international posts. It makes me feel as I belong to the world out there, in spite of the fact that I am stuck here, forever and a day it seems.

We spent a nice afternoon at my son's place, dutifully admiring the new ambiance (central air) in the house, the garden, and the flowers everywhere on the property. There are no mosquitoes there, the house is beautifully appointed, the dinner was excellent, everything almost too perfect for my taste since I never cared much for all that in my life.

Flexy did not criticize my driving on the trip back home. However, he did criticize me anyway saying that having two daughters-in-law who are very domestic may have something to do with the way I raised my sons. Cheerfully and gratefully that he had shut up for once about my driving, I agreed and said that, it is absolutely certain that if these women tower over me by a good four inches, it is because I am only five feet three.

Petite and slim,
Sharp and trim.

10392. Magoseph - 7/19/2004 12:27:17 AM

Not so sharp and not so trim anymore, but the old juices are still flowing strong. Have a nice evening, Mac.

10393. Macnas - 7/19/2004 12:31:37 AM

You as well Mago.

10394. alistairConnor - 7/19/2004 12:34:02 AM

I'm off home to entertain the in-laws. The bro-in-law is a good drinker, and the kids entertain each other very well, so it shouldn't be too trying.

10395. Ms. No - 7/19/2004 12:43:25 AM

Best laid plans and all that.

I had a crisis of paint this weekend. Consequently I taped off all the windows and trim in the bedroom but did not put any paint on the walls because I'm not certain now that I really want to paint it the color that I chose.

It's quite a nice subtle kind of buttery color called Lily Creme.....but the outside of the house is yellow and the kitchen is yellow and I had thought about a yellow wash for the living room which flows into the dining area and that's about two rooms too much yellow for me.

What I really want to do is paint the bedroom red, but I'm trying to overcome that desire since red is extremely hard to cover later. Grrrr....

So, in the meantime I painted and lined the kitchen shelves, lined the drawers, unpacked dishes and pots and pans, but still haven't come across the silverware. Got the entertainment center set up but got totally overwhelmed when faced with the task of choosing which books to put into it so all I did was dust it and hook up electronics.

Discovered a mediocre Thai restaurant down the street. Nothing much to write home about except that I did nearly swoon at the first taste of the Thom Kah Gai. This was due primarily to the long and tiring day without eating, but this is also my very favorite soup in the world and even a mediocre one can lift my spirits. The broth was actually very good, but the chicken was a little overcooked and there was rather an abundance of mushrooms in it.

I'm still looking forward to heating up the leftovers for dinner tonight, though.

10396. Ms. No - 7/19/2004 12:44:28 AM

Have a good evening the both of you!

10397. PelleNilsson - 7/19/2004 3:48:09 AM

You brought home leftovers from a restaurant? How quaint.

10398. Ms. No - 7/19/2004 4:42:19 AM

No, I picked up take-out.

10399. Jenerator - 7/19/2004 4:58:05 AM

Ms. No,

Next time you're in the Big-D, try a place called Tukta Thai, it's worth it!

10400. Jenerator - 7/19/2004 4:58:42 AM

Pelle,

Do people not take home leftovers in Sweden?
