10825. iiibbb - 4/14/2013 1:17:37 PM phrase of the day "bathing in our outrage"
10826. judithathome - 4/14/2013 4:38:29 PM 3i, I have a friend who thinks Woods shouldn't even be playing golf any longer! He is rabid in his hatred of Tiger Woods...thankfully, he wasn't around this weekend but I'm certain to hear about it tomorrow...he raves on and on about how Wooods' antics on the course have "ruined the game" and how he's given golf a bad name...I'm sure he will carry on for half an hour over this incident. 10827. arkymalarky - 4/14/2013 6:11:52 PM It showed as Sent and I just sent it again. Let me know if you don't Get it 10828. judithathome - 4/15/2013 4:38:07 PM Got it...for some reason, it went to junk mail. I made your email "safe" so it shouldnt do that again. 10829. arkymalarky - 4/15/2013 7:09:11 PM Haha! Probably based it on the content. 10830. judithathome - 4/15/2013 7:37:09 PM Well, that has been happening a lot lately and I need to check the junk file more often for "mistaken identity". 10831. judithathome - 4/15/2013 8:23:17 PM WOW...what the hell happened at the Boston Marathon today?
Two huge explosions right at the finish line just as the race was ending. 10832. wabbit - 4/15/2013 9:53:24 PM Two explosions at the finish line at about 2:50pm. Over 30 hospitalized, some critical, and two dead so far. A third explosion at the JFK library, no news about that yet. 10833. wabbit - 4/15/2013 10:07:05 PM News is that the JFK library explosion was just after 3pm in the new wing. Three other devices found, one has been blown up (controlled explosion), two more being dealt with, looking for more.
Evidently there was no warning, no idea this was going to happen.
People are still finishing, they are being sent down Commonwealth Avenue to the Boston Common. People who hadn't gotten past Newton when the first two explosions happened were stopped.
Now there is a report of an explosion at the Tufts Medical Center. 10834. wabbit - 4/15/2013 10:41:40 PM Two pieces of good news...no explosion at TMC and the library may not be related. 10835. thoughtful - 4/15/2013 10:42:21 PM Just terrible. Boston always seemed so safe to me.... 10836. thoughtful - 4/17/2013 2:06:52 PM What? No calls for bans on pressure cooker sales?
Sorry, I couldn't resist. 10837. robertjayb - 4/17/2013 8:30:35 PM I had the same thought. Shame on us. 10838. arkymalarky - 4/17/2013 9:30:56 PM Mortality

Do some simple subtraction and retool your argument to adjust for reality. 10839. iiibbb - 4/18/2013 1:41:29 PM In my brief career on DU... what I think killed this was the gun control side working themselves up into a froth and the NY Safe act which cause the other side to mobilize and dig in.
Politics these days seems to be about taking an issue with a clear mandate and letting the passionate extreme turn it into something unacceptable (or at least create that perception) 10840. arkymalarky - 4/18/2013 2:41:12 PM 1 meaningful background checks
2 reasonable limits on magazines
Anyone but an anarchist should be able to accept that 10841. wabbit - 4/18/2013 3:18:02 PM A fire and chemical explosion at a Texas fertilizer plant in a small town north of Waco sent at least 180 people to hospitals, flattened buildings, prompted widespread evacuations and left as many as five to 15 people feared dead... 10842. Wombat - 4/18/2013 3:30:48 PM I think it was a difference between wide support and deep support. I also think that it will be a pyrrhic victory for the gun lobby. 10843. judithathome - 4/18/2013 6:17:22 PM Wabbit, I watched that on the news until 3am...I've been to that little town...anyone who knows it stops off to buy the "world famous" kolaches at one of the many bakeries in town.
West has always been known as "little Germany". 10844. judithathome - 4/18/2013 6:17:51 PM It must have felt like Dresden last night....
