Actually it's just for shaping the brows --- like waxing or plucking but done with a twisted up thread. I go in every couple of months because I'm not good about maintaining the right shape on my own. Notice the Lo-Jack cuff on his ankle? I was shocked but it makes sense to have them. You can't take a baby off the ward with one of those things on--- it sets off an alarm. And when they bring the baby into the room they check his ID# against the mother's ID# bracelet.
You can see what a big kid he is here. 23 1/2 inches long/tall. He's less than 24 hours old in these pics.
Mom and baby go home from the hostpital tomorrow. He ended up having a little jaundice so they wanted to put him under the lamps for a day and Jess need a little more recovery time anyway. However much it sucks to be in the hospital you really do rest more there than at home.

I don't know how much trouble they've really had with actual baby theft --- it's not one of those things they'd be likely to let get out if they could help it. I do know that the hospital is enormous and it's easy to get lost in. I imagine it's more often used by nurses to match up the correct infants and mothers and to track down where a baby might be having treatment -- nursery, private room, surgery --- than it is to chase baby snatchers through the hallways. 11287.
