I'll leave that to Bro. He's the bluegrass musician.

Tonight was our village council meeting.

Our village council has three morons on it and they are the majority vote. Tonight, they voted to spend thousands of dollars on an investigator to find $2,000 they don't even know is missing for sure. They also voted to pay another auditor to do a complete audit even though we have a city auditor who has said there is nothing amiss in the books. They also voted to spend money to bring a lawsuit against our former police chief because he still has a laptop computer which he paid for himself and allowed the mayor to check to make sure he hadn't stolen city files...the mayor said it was clear but because the mayor and the ex-chief met and did it at a coffee shop instead of in city hall, the three morons are saying the police chief, whom they fired, has "stolen" the laptop. That's right...the one he paid for with his own money.

How can three be a majority?

CNN FINANCIAL AIRS PROGRAM ON HOA's ON SEPTEMBER 14, 2004

"How to Fight a Homeowner Association" will air 12noon ET (9am PT) and again 3pm ET (12 noon PT )

September 13, 2004

By AHRC News Services Staff

New York, New York

CNN FINANCIAL NEWS NETWORK is airing a program on how to fight a homeowner association on their TV show "Open House" on September 14, 2004.

The show will air at 12 noon Eastern Time (9a.m. Pacific Time) and again at 3 pm Eastern Time (12 noon Pacific Time.) .

An AHRC representative will be on the program.

Given that problems are erupting all over the country in homeowner association, the program promises to be both informative and relevant.

In California, the program is especially relevant. CAI is raising $30,000 to kill an anti-foreclosure bill. AB 2598 (Steinberg/Ducheny) overwhelmingly passed the California legislature with strong support from both parties.

CAI is trying to persuade the governor to veto it. The governor has until September 30 to sign or veto it. The legislation was sponsored by homeowners all across California to stop foreclosures such as theRadcliffs, where their $300,000 home was foreclosed on for $120.

Pelle, there are only 5 council persons.

11378. wonkers2 - 9/14/2004 10:51:27 PM

Thanks, Snowowl! Waking Ned Devine was my favorite movie the year it came out.

11379. PelleNilsson - 9/14/2004 11:59:07 PM

Sorry Judith. I projected your village council into our parish council which used to consist of all taxpayers. Is your council up for elections this November or is it on a different cycle?

Pelle, they run in different cycles...our first chance to change the make-up of the council is May 2005 and we are going to do it. One of the three is up for re-election and his new seat will be in the audience after our guy wins. Keoni may even run for this guy's seat. Ha!

Keoni spoke last night during that part of the meeting where we can air our grievances and he got a rousing round of applause. So he "tested well" and as anyone from the Mote who has met him will attest, he is a charmer and can sell almost anything to anyone.

Last year they asked me to run for one of the vacant seats but I have a sort of "past" in this village that I am sure would be used against me rather quickly.

11382. neato - 9/15/2004 8:13:59 AM

Now I'm curious about your "sort of" "past"!

11383. judithathome - 9/15/2004 8:18:37 AM

It's political...nothing seedy.

11384. neato - 9/15/2004 8:20:16 AM

Still curious

This is a village of closely knit citizenry and they never forget...I once backed a renegade candidate quite vocally, maybe 30 years ago. These people never forgot that. Of course, after I moved overseas and was gone for almost 13 tears, I figured they'd have let it go but I still get jabbed about it.

There is also the fact I "ran away from home" when I got a divorce, instead of staying here; it was very abrupt and no one had a clue I was contemplating doing this. And I know people think that was weird.

11387. judithathome - 9/15/2004 8:26:50 AM

We're talking about a village where the majority of the people qualify as Gray Panthers....old fashioned, in other words.

11388. robertjayb - 9/15/2004 8:41:54 AM

How about all that time in those Jacksboro Highway honky-tonks?

11389. judithathome - 9/15/2004 8:44:50 AM

Ha! If you only knew!

11390. judithathome - 9/15/2004 8:45:15 AM

The Rocket was the best!

My parents are on the far right

Aren't they the coolest? ;-)

What a hoot!

Maybe Mose could take him on that Harley, instead, to the Battle of the Bands.
Best of luck to her.

Um, I just rented "School of Rock". Only watched the fist 15 minutes, but the plot seems to be, slacker rocker-wanna-be signs up as a sub teacher and enlists some of the kids in the local battle of the bands contest.

Enjoyed the glass paperweight talk.
