What a hoot!

Maybe Mose could take him on that Harley, instead, to the Battle of the Bands.
Best of luck to her.

Um, I just rented "School of Rock". Only watched the fist 15 minutes, but the plot seems to be, slacker rocker-wanna-be signs up as a sub teacher and enlists some of the kids in the local battle of the bands contest.

Enjoyed the glass paperweight talk.

Great photo, your Dad looks like he could handle that Harley.
Whose is the painted van on the right?

11394. SnowOwl - 9/15/2004 6:22:54 PM

That's a terrific photo. I do think you need to get your Mum and Dad into leathers even if just for a picture.

11395. RickNelson - 9/15/2004 7:54:27 PM

Great picture Arky. It's what family memories are made of.

Get lots and lots of pictures on that bike.

11396. Magoseph - 9/15/2004 9:09:30 PM

Arky, what a great picture! I envy you for having such great parents. I feel I know them through all the nice things you told us over the years.

Hey, Mac, how about saying a little hello here to us today?

11397. Macnas - 9/15/2004 9:32:26 PM

Hello

11398. alistairconnor - 9/15/2004 9:37:18 PM

Hangover, Mac?

11399. Macnas - 9/15/2004 9:46:22 PM

How did you know?

I had an interview yesterday that went well, so I had a drink that led to another and, well, I'm sure you know the rest.

11400. alistairconnor - 9/15/2004 10:13:15 PM

changing jobs, are we?

11401. Macnas - 9/15/2004 10:33:28 PM

If I can I will, but it won't break my heart if I don't get it.

11402. arkymalarky - 9/16/2004 7:42:58 AM

Good luck, Mac.

Thanks, all, for the nice comments wrt my parents. They have unfortunately had their moment in the sun with their Harley. They didn't even cruise the block, but returned it to be sold by the Harley place and they'll take the money. They didn't even give me time to try to borrow some leather for them to wear. No sense of adventure, those two. ;-)

Neato,

I may be wrong, but I think that van belongs to the radio station. Hot Springs has a huge bikers' convention every year and it was just last week. The turnout was enormous, but I don't remember how much. The drawing had 180,000 entries, though, so Dad's win was pretty impressive.

Take the TV out!

I'm just dreaming, folks.

11406. Ms. No - 9/17/2004 1:44:48 AM

Everyone ready for international Talk Like A Pirate Day?

Arrrrr!!! Where can I get a stuffed parrot on such short notice?

11407. Magoseph - 9/17/2004 1:50:00 AM

The little Subway store doesn’t exist anymore—the Indian family who took over in town a liquor store, a gas station, and the site of the burned-down bowling alley bought it and is busy changing it. Lissome, handsome, and courteous young men were in the place this morning when I went for my morning latte. This is so much fun--I love it when new people are buying into the local economy.

11408. marjoribanks - 9/17/2004 1:53:19 AM

Lissome? Ah, magoseph, we shoulda met at the right time, in a mutually appropriate era, and in the right place.

May I ask how much the Quai D'Orleans apartment is?

11409. Magoseph - 9/17/2004 1:56:28 AM

Over 3 million euros, Marj.

11410. Magoseph - 9/17/2004 1:58:25 AM

Exactly--Asking Price: 3,770,000 euros + 2% Finder's Fee.

'take the tv out'

They are doing very cool things to hide tvs these days. Of course with the flat panels, they're a lot easier to hide behind hinged screens, sliding paintings and such. One of the neatest one's I've seen was a bathroom with a mirror over the vanity that filled the wall. Well, it was really one-way glass and when you turned the tv on, which was parked on a shelf in the walk-in closet next door, you could see it right through the mirror. When it was off, you never knew it was there. Very cool.
