So sorry about your aunt, Pelle...now you and I have something in common.

11494. PelleNilsson - 9/24/2004 2:45:47 PM

Thanks Judith but when someone who is 96 passes peacefully away there is no need to be sorry. But she was the last link to my parents generation.

How true, Pelle. But a loss is a loss. Regards.

I remember a precious few conversations with my great grandmother (born 1898). I was a young lad, but I wish now I'd paid more attention.

Of course some of her remberences were deadly-serious ghost stories. Weird sights in the local graveyard, and odd knocks on the door of old sharecropper shacks.

And so, How amd I doin here? I comment as Meannne Jeanne bears down on the Florida coast. My daughter's house signing was delayed two months because of Charley and Ivan, but she took occupancy this week - just in time for Jeanne,

So I'm hoping the damn storm comes north. I know we have little to complain about when the lives lost in Haiti approach 2000, but still, it's been a stressful season for some.

I hope to enjoy the South Carolina weather in October.

Ms No,

Don't mind me, I'm sure your colors are nice. I'm sometimes surprized by shades of red and green that I actually like. Car paint is my best example. I like the red Toyota camrys (Strawberry?), and the bright green Honda civics.

My world would be shades of grey with blue stripes - sort of like my underwear. Ha!

I am exhausted. We spent about 6 hours cleaning on this house. MsNo and Arky will appreciate just how much we did when I say that we took every single thing out of the bookcases in the living room and dusted all of it. Cleaned the bookcases and put everything back. Washed the curtains and the windows. Put them back up.

Tomorrow it's the den and the garden room. Windows and all.

11499. judithathome - 9/26/2004 3:47:07 AM

That would be all TWELVE windows.

11500. arkymalarky - 9/26/2004 4:16:16 AM

Wow. That is a job.

I'm still working on mine--finishing kitchen and bathroom cabinets and the bedroom. I need to do the windows, also. I'm working along hoping to be done by the end of Christmas before the January legislative session starts up in AR.

Cap'n Dirty sez, "In my experience, house cleanin' is over-rated. On the other hand, cleanin' yer boat is the Lord's work!"

11504. Magoseph - 9/27/2004 1:35:31 PM

Hello, everyone. Ali, you must have been very busy this weekend.

11505. alistairconnor - 9/27/2004 2:33:49 PM

Oh well. In and out. I had forgotten, the choir were scheduled to sing at a wedding on Saturday morning.

"Quand on a que l'amour", Jacques Brel song. Always shakes me up.

Quand on n'a que l'amour
Pour tracer un chemin
Et forcer le destin
A chaque carrefour

Quand on n'a que l'amour
Pour parler aux canons
Et rien qu'une chanson
Pour convaincre un tambour

etc...

And then : "Aimer", a bit of doggerel from some rock opera called "Les dix commandements"... not my style. Several tricky key changes that tend to throw us off. Way more trouble than it's worth.

And on the last key change, we (the tenors) fluffed it completely, we were about a tone and a half flat.

Aimer, c'est monter si haut

... what are they going to say about us... can't get it up...

Prof, how can you disappoint me like that? I was hoping for something new in my life...something I don't have the nerve to get myself.

11508. PsychProf - 9/27/2004 7:19:35 PM

Mags...go to Ruth's...she has some interesting stuff there, along these lines.

11509. Magoseph - 9/28/2004 9:46:14 AM

Prof, I couldn't find anything along these lines in Ruth's forum, but I'll be back there.

Salut, everyone. Hello, Mac, Ali, and Jay.
