Prof, I read and read eighty percent of my free time. I want something else to do right now. My eyes must rest a while. Maybe I will eat something--let's see now what there's to eat here that would be a cardinal sin. Maybe I could open the can of pâté de foie gras my brother sent me and finish with the can of Crème de Marrons Glacés?

That would be good, but... I intended to send them to my younger son. Did I tell him yet that I would? Yes, I think I did. Okay, I'm going for a fast walk--that should take care of my discontent, which I assure you, is usually of short duration after sweating for an hour.

Mags...here is a friend to walk with ya.

12082. Magoseph - 11/16/2004 8:40:30 PM

Ah, that is so great, thanks, Prof!

12083. wonkers2 - 11/16/2004 10:04:34 PM

Very nice! I got a couple of fairly good pictures of ospreys in Mexico week before last.

12084. Magoseph - 11/16/2004 10:22:33 PM

Won, maybe you could put those pictures on the site where you keep your family albums and link them from there?

12085. Magoseph - 11/16/2004 10:23:41 PM

Toys

12086. Magoseph - 11/16/2004 10:24:28 PM

Oh, well, I can't fix it. Ali will have to help us, I'm afraid.

12087. wabbit - 11/16/2004 10:33:56 PM

test

12088. Magoseph - 11/16/2004 11:27:39 PM

It is Clinton's fault.

12089. Magoseph - 11/16/2004 11:29:33 PM

Gee, just bringing up his name fixed the thread?

12090. arkymalarky - 11/17/2004 2:25:56 AM

The only place I can really get away and relax is at my house or in the cabin in Colorado. I used to crochet and cross-stitch a lot when I had the luxury of the time. I very rarely want to get out and do anything any more. It's just a chore. I am going to Old Washington for their Christmas celebration, though.

12091. judithathome - 11/17/2004 2:46:31 AM

I'm just enjoying being in the house by myself and with Keoni...we haven't had time to ourselves except for sleeping at night for the past 4 weeks. Our guests are halfway to Greece right now...

It was wonderful having them here and we had a great time but it was exhausting. It's nice to eat cereal for dinner and not have a huge meal like we've been doing; it's nice to leave my slippers in the dining room for half an hour and not have to worry about Popi putting them away for me...ha!

She was such a dynamo...this morning before I even woke up she had washed the sheets and towels and vacuumed the guest room and cleaned the bathroom. Now that is good guest behavior but it is rather intimidating, too. Yesterday she took my coffee maker apart and cleaned it to within an inch of its life...I appreciated all her help but I just wanted to relax. The coffee was just as good yesterday when the appliance was "not" perfectly cleaned as it was today sparkling new.

Anyhow, it was fun but I plan to be a little less "intense" in the next few days. heh

mags,

I rarely get the chance to be alone anymore. For me, a treat at home would be to make a strong cup of coffee (or tea if you prefer), light a couple of my favorite candles, throw on my most comfortable slouch clothes and either watch a tv show or read through a couple of magazines.

Ohmygosh.

For relaxing at home I love taking long baths, too.

12094. Jenerator - 11/17/2004 2:57:06 AM

Arky,

I need a new tub. The one we currently have, I'm too long for.

Judith,

Congrats on your independence. I know exactly how you feel. Whenever my MIL comes to visit, I feel a ton of pressure to have everything in order. I buy new q-tips, shampoo, razors, soap, etc., I wash everything on my hands and knees, everything has to be cooked to perfection, folded to perfection and so on.

I get exhausted just thinking about it!;-)

Oh, and she takes apart the coffee machine EVERY day!

12095. arkymalarky - 11/17/2004 3:02:20 AM

I'm keeping my mouth shut, especially after Keoni had to vacuum as soon as he and Judith got here this summer!

12096. arkymalarky - 11/17/2004 3:03:13 AM

I want to get back to keeping my house up better. For the past two years we've been existing here. I caught back up some this summer, but there's more to do and it will be spring before I get to it. My schedule is brimming until February at least.

12097. Absensia - 11/17/2004 8:28:15 AM

I'm trying to get the cats to do their share of housework here, but they are impervious to my requests.

12098. alistairconnor - 11/17/2004 12:01:45 PM

Same with my children.

12099. Magoseph - 11/17/2004 3:45:32 PM

Hello, Abs, Arky, Jen, Judsie, and everyone.. Ali, how did Wabbit re-established the thread? I tried with the (/tag), but it didn't work--just curious for next time if it goes haywire again.

Jen, I taped the "Desperate Housewives" series, but never did watch it for long. Last evening, I saw the last three episodes and I thought they were rather relaxing to watch.

Ali, I never could get help from the kids, except for keeping their rooms and bathroom clean and leaving no mess in the rest of the house. Of course they had to pay a price for not doing this, and that was--no allowance for the week.

We have one of those Indian summer's days here today and we are going to burn leaves.

Hello, Mac!
