Magos,

Yes, I was still in Dallas then. Just got back home yesterday. The closest Lifetime Fitness to me is in Arizona. I think I won't be driving out for that.

It was a good trip and a sad trip. Great to be with the family --- all 30+ of them --- and great to see old friends, but it was hard clearing out my grandmother's house. The worst of it came when I left there on Saturday for what I knew would be the last time ever in my life. They're putting the house up for sale and it'll be gone before I ever get back to Dallas again.

My folks live so far from that part of town that we'd have no reason to go over there if not for my Mamaw. So from now on when I visit I won't even be in the parts of Dallas that I know from my childhood. It's kind of jarring to thing about. I'll have to take field trips in future. ;->

Okay, we need just one more post to fix the margins.

Allow me!

Doesn't it depend on what your "post/page" setting is?

12364. Ms. No - 11/29/2004 8:27:10 PM

Yeah, actually it does. I think mine is set to 20.

MsNo, it was great seeing you and your wonderful mom! Keoni was quite taken with her. We seriously want to take your mom and your step-dad to that restaurant one night and have them drop by our house on New Year's day if they are able.

MsNo is delightful host and superb cook!

12366. PelleNilsson - 11/29/2004 8:48:48 PM

Please provide intimate details of the cookery.

Jude,

I noticed a restaurant called Salerno's out on Long Prairie road headed from my folks place toward Grapevine Mills and wondered if it was related to Salerno's in Ft. Worth. Did your friend open a second restaurant?

12368. Ms. No - 11/29/2004 8:54:35 PM

-- and my folks would love to get together with you and Keoni. Cory was really bummed that he was so sick when you visited.

12369. judithathome - 11/29/2004 8:55:18 PM

She made an outstanding Gallette of beef, mushrooms, and onion...the crust was so flakey and light you could have blown on it and flakes would have separated. And a salad of mixed spring greens with crumbled feta and chopped pralined pecans and tossed with a tart raspberry vinaigrette...absolutely scrumptious. And raspberry sorbet with Prioline-type cookies for dessert.

Though the food was wonderful, the company was better. We had a great time.

12370. Ms. No - 11/29/2004 9:01:33 PM

Yes, we did. My mom was thrilled and then she got all teary "My baby just had a real dinner party." Yeah, her 35-year-old baby. Sheesh, moms. ;->

Did your friend open a second restaurant?

No, it's not the same guy. In fact, he lost his parents within three days of each other in September, sold away two thirds partnership in the restaurant, applied to Columbia in New York, and was accepted. Starts school in the January term. He also bought an airplane and will be getting his commercial license soon. I asked him if he was planning on becoming a commercial pilot and he said no...he'll just get to fly "bigger planes!"

He is such a bright young man. He is keeping an office and apartment here in town but I think once he gets to New York and Columbia, we won't be seeing much of him after that. I expect big things from him...he's too unique not to achieve them.

Thanks all!

12373. Magoseph - 11/29/2004 10:28:54 PM

Won, what are your plans for tomorrow?

12374. Jenerator - 11/29/2004 10:37:57 PM

I have a membership at Lifetime Fitness. Love the place. It doesn't matter what time I go, there are always enough machines available. I'm too tired to go into details, but it is the best gym I have ever been a member of, ever.

Christi,

How drastic a make-over and how much $$ are you wanting to spend?

12375. Ms. No - 11/29/2004 10:49:30 PM

Probably a wise move to invest in any venture he starts. He's not even 25 yet is he?

12376. judithathome - 11/29/2004 10:52:01 PM

Nope, he's all of 22.

12377. Ms. No - 11/29/2004 11:12:09 PM

Jen,

I envy you your gym. I could have moved right in!

12378. Ms. No - 11/29/2004 11:20:36 PM

Jude,

He's a puppy!!! What an amazing person. What's he studying at Columbia?

12379. judithathome - 11/29/2004 11:26:56 PM

I think he wants to become a commodities trader...so wahtever he'd need for that.
