Yes, I was still in Dallas then. Just got back home yesterday. The closest Lifetime Fitness to me is in Arizona. I think I won't be driving out for that.
It was a good trip and a sad trip. Great to be with the family --- all 30+ of them --- and great to see old friends, but it was hard clearing out my grandmother's house. The worst of it came when I left there on Saturday for what I knew would be the last time ever in my life. They're putting the house up for sale and it'll be gone before I ever get back to Dallas again.
My folks live so far from that part of town that we'd have no reason to go over there if not for my Mamaw. So from now on when I visit I won't even be in the parts of Dallas that I know from my childhood. It's kind of jarring to thing about. I'll have to take field trips in future. ;-> 12361. I noticed a restaurant called Salerno's out on Long Prairie road headed from my folks place toward Grapevine Mills and wondered if it was related to Salerno's in Ft. Worth. And a salad of mixed spring greens with crumbled feta and chopped pralined pecans and tossed with a tart raspberry vinaigrette...absolutely scrumptious. And raspberry sorbet with Prioline-type cookies for dessert.

No, it's not the same guy. In fact, he lost his parents within three days of each other in September, sold away two thirds partnership in the restaurant, applied to Columbia in New York, and was accepted. Starts school in the January term. He also bought an airplane and will be getting his commercial license soon. I asked him if he was planning on becoming a commercial pilot and he said no...he'll just get to fly "bigger planes!"
He is such a bright young man. He is keeping an office and apartment here in town but I think once he gets to New York and Columbia, we won't be seeing much of him after that. I expect big things from him...he's too unique not to achieve them.

I'm too tired to go into details, but it is the best gym I have ever been a member of, ever.
