By people who aren't old enough to remember them, no doubt.

12542. Ms. No - 12/7/2004 1:35:58 AM

I was just reading and they had a big panel of artists and industry people who all got to nominate their top 50 favorite tunes and then the list was decided from that.

12543. iiibbb - 12/7/2004 2:00:07 AM

Also notably absent from the top 100 is the Bohemian Rapsody...

12544. iiibbb - 12/7/2004 2:03:38 AM

Rhapsody.... since we're spelling obsessed at the moment.

12545. Ms. No - 12/7/2004 2:09:52 AM

hahaha, yeah, I noticed that too and yet "Mystery Train" is going to make the cut.

bizarre.

12546. Macnas - 12/7/2004 1:36:10 PM

Well, lets look at what's on our personal playlists eh?

Just a random 10 from my winamp list...

Coldplay, "Yellow"
Beck, "Loser"
Stiff Little Fingers, "Gotta Getta way"
Bob Marley and the Wailers, "Jamming"
David Bowie, "Pretty Things"
Frank Zappa, "City of Tiny Lights (live)"
Talking Heads, "Psycho Killer (live)"
The Ramones, "Blitzkrieg Bop"
The Clash, "Guns of Brixton"
Lynyrd Skynyrd "FREE BIRD!!"

12547. Magoseph - 12/7/2004 3:26:40 PM

...what are you replacing it with?

I don't know yet, Ali, maybe ceramic tiles. The old ones are not replaceable. Actually, it is not worthwhile to put ceramic tiles in here since this house, (if sold) will most likely be razed. The house has no particular style, a very inconvenient set-up, is not worth renovating.

Hello, Mac, tell me, do you have a Christmas party at work?

12548. Magoseph - 12/7/2004 3:43:08 PM

Hey, Judsie, that's too bad about your car--Is the panel difficult to replace? Were you in the car? Driving?

12549. Macnas - 12/7/2004 3:48:15 PM

Hello Mago,

We have several, there is a main event, a big old affair that I always avoid, then there are departmental celebrations, which I also avoid, and many minor sub-group type hooleys, and yes, I never go to those either.

I see enough of these people all day without having to break bread with them as well.

12550. iiibbb - 12/7/2004 3:50:40 PM

Yes... one of Beck's should be in the top 10... that guy is a genius.

12551. iiibbb - 12/7/2004 3:51:12 PM

My top 10 probably contains more than 10 :)

12552. Ms. No - 12/7/2004 5:58:35 PM

Mac,

As usual I just want to copy your entire music collection.

Lemme see what I've got in the rotation lately:

The Clash - Train in Vain
Earth Wind & Fire - Got to Get You Into My Life
Bowie - Golden Years
The Smiths - How Soon is Now
The Police - Bring on the Night
Zappa - Dirty Love
Crowded House - Don't Dream it's Over
Emmylou Harris - Red Dirt Girls
Joan Osbourne - Poison Apples
Bauhaus - The Passion of Lovers is for Death (techno remix)
The Damned - Alone Again Or
Lowell George - Easy Money
Franz Ferdinand - 40
Fiona Apple - You're All I Need
U2 - New Year's Day

Man, that's kind of a strange list. Generally I do things like put a bunch of 70's horn bands together or make an all 80's goth or new wave list or all chick-singers or all Zappa or folk. This is just bizarre looking.

12553. wabbit - 12/7/2004 6:22:13 PM

Hmmm.

Les Dudek - What A Sacrifice
Tom Waits - Goin' Out West
Cracker - Low
Basement Jaxx - Where's your Head At
Gavin Rossdale - Adrenaline
Muddy Waters - I'm a Man
Booker T and the MG's - Green Onions
Tracy Bonham - Mother Mother
Whistling Elves - We're Having a Dot Com Christmas
Susan Tedeschi - Ain't Nobody's Business
Chaka Khan - Ain't Nobody
Jay Z & DJ Danger Mouse - December4th
Gene Krupa w/ Anita O'Day - Opus One
Where is iiibbb's list?

12554. Ms. No - 12/7/2004 7:19:47 PM

Ooh! Good stuff Wabbit!!

12555. iiibbb - 12/7/2004 7:35:53 PM

It's almost overwhelming to try to think up a list. I'd have to give it a lot of thought before I'd commit to my 'favorites'.

12556. wabbit - 12/7/2004 7:41:27 PM

Oh, these aren't my "favorites", just what I've listened to in the last day on this computer. I have many many more tunes on a different machine. My favorites would be a changing-daily list anyway.

12557. iiibbb - 12/7/2004 7:50:36 PM

what I listen to every day is WNCW... you can listen online if you like. It's great station, NPR, no ads, folk bluegrass rootsrock rock blues...

... it's awesome.

12558. Ms. No - 12/7/2004 7:55:43 PM

radioparadise is another good webstation. My list also not my top ten --- just what happens to be in my WinAmp rotation at the moment

12559. alistairConnor - 12/7/2004 8:55:04 PM

I tend to listen to entire albums more, but here's a representative sample of current listening :

XTC - Making plans for Nigel
Tom Tom Club - L'éléphant
White Stripes - There's no home for you here
That Petrol Emotion - Stories of the street
Grace Jones - Walking in the rain
Pergolesi - Stabat Mater
The Pogues - Young Ned of the hill
James Brown - Papa's got a brand new bag
The Smiths - The boy with a thorn in his side
John Lee Hooker - Moanin' blues

12560. Ms. No - 12/7/2004 9:01:40 PM

Okay, when we're all stranded on a deserted island together everybody remember to bring your record collections.
