Yes... one of Beck's should be in the top 10... that guy is a genius.

12551. iiibbb - 12/7/2004 3:51:12 PM

My top 10 probably contains more than 10 :)

12552. Ms. No - 12/7/2004 5:58:35 PM

Mac,

As usual I just want to copy your entire music collection.

Lemme see what I've got in the rotation lately:

The Clash - Train in Vain
Earth Wind & Fire - Got to Get You Into My Life
Bowie - Golden Years
The Smiths - How Soon is Now
The Police - Bring on the Night
Zappa - Dirty Love
Crowded House - Don't Dream it's Over
Emmylou Harris - Red Dirt Girls
Joan Osbourne - Poison Apples
Bauhaus - The Passion of Lovers is for Death (techno remix)
The Damned - Alone Again Or
Lowell George - Easy Money
Franz Ferdinand - 40
Fiona Apple - You're All I Need
U2 - New Year's Day

Man, that's kind of a strange list. Generally I do things like put a bunch of 70's horn bands together or make an all 80's goth or new wave list or all chick-singers or all Zappa or folk. This is just bizarre looking.

12553. wabbit - 12/7/2004 6:22:13 PM

Hmmm.

Les Dudek - What A Sacrifice
Tom Waits - Goin' Out West
Cracker - Low
Basement Jaxx - Where's your Head At
Gavin Rossdale - Adrenaline
Muddy Waters - I'm a Man
Booker T and the MG's - Green Onions
Tracy Bonham - Mother Mother
Whistling Elves - We're Having a Dot Com Christmas
Susan Tedeschi - Ain't Nobody's Business
Chaka Khan - Ain't Nobody
Jay Z & DJ Danger Mouse - December4th
Gene Krupa w/ Anita O'Day - Opus One
Where is iiibbb's list?

12554. Ms. No - 12/7/2004 7:19:47 PM

Ooh! Good stuff Wabbit!!

12555. iiibbb - 12/7/2004 7:35:53 PM

It's almost overwhelming to try to think up a list. I'd have to give it a lot of thought before I'd commit to my 'favorites'.

12556. wabbit - 12/7/2004 7:41:27 PM

Oh, these aren't my "favorites", just what I've listened to in the last day on this computer. I have many many more tunes on a different machine. My favorites would be a changing-daily list anyway.

12557. iiibbb - 12/7/2004 7:50:36 PM

what I listen to every day is WNCW... you can listen online if you like. It's great station, NPR, no ads, folk bluegrass rootsrock rock blues...

... it's awesome.

12558. Ms. No - 12/7/2004 7:55:43 PM

radioparadise is another good webstation. My list also not my top ten --- just what happens to be in my WinAmp rotation at the moment

12559. alistairConnor - 12/7/2004 8:55:04 PM

I tend to listen to entire albums more, but here's a representative sample of current listening :

XTC - Making plans for Nigel
Tom Tom Club - L'éléphant
White Stripes - There's no home for you here
That Petrol Emotion - Stories of the street
Grace Jones - Walking in the rain
Pergolesi - Stabat Mater
The Pogues - Young Ned of the hill
James Brown - Papa's got a brand new bag
The Smiths - The boy with a thorn in his side
John Lee Hooker - Moanin' blues

12560. Ms. No - 12/7/2004 9:01:40 PM

Okay, when we're all stranded on a deserted island together everybody remember to bring your record collections.

12561. alistairConnor - 12/7/2004 9:07:45 PM

And if we forget. We can sing them to each other. And beat rocks together.

12562. Magoseph - 12/7/2004 9:41:40 PM

I won't beat rocks since I'm tone-deaf, but I'll be your girl Friday, Ali.

12563. Ms. No - 12/7/2004 11:07:39 PM

AC,

We could have our own choir. I can't now remember the name of the acapella group that sings the music as well --- this is different than the Persuasions. I remember seeing them years ago on PBS singing the Talking Heads' "Psycho Killer", it was really incredible.

12564. wabbit - 12/7/2004 11:26:12 PM

The Bobs

12565. alistairConnor - 12/7/2004 11:49:00 PM

I think I'm going to score a couple of songs for the choir, S-A-T-B, just as soon as I get some time... and appropriate software (anyone got any recommendations?)

Current candidates are : "Siffler sur la colline" by Joe Dassin (I'm sure you know it Mago) and "If I fell" by the beatles - I bought a Kings Singers score of that, but thought it was really horrible. I want to do an arrangement that's close to the original.

12566. iiibbb - 12/8/2004 12:39:07 AM

Anyone ever heard of "The Shaggs"?

12567. iiibbb - 12/8/2004 1:40:53 AM

Why women live longer

12568. Absensia - 12/8/2004 1:52:47 AM

Whatever happened to the list of Christmas shopping resources we did last year? There's a place that was in there that I can't find in my bookmarks and I NEED it!

12569. judithathome - 12/8/2004 2:29:33 AM

Hey, Judsie, that's too bad about your car--Is the panel difficult to replace? Were you in the car? Driving?

I think it will relatively easy to repair...the dealership which sells cars like mine has a vast body shop and they do excellent work. Lots of people here own cars as old mine (1990) and there shouldn't be a problem getting it fixed.

We were in the lobby of the theatre waiting to go in and watch a play; the car was in a parking lot across the street. A friend who was coming to the play saw it happen and came and got Keoni so he got the woman's insurance info and was very nice about it, apparently.

I know this because the weirdest thing happened today. A friend I don't see very often called and said the strangest thing happened to her at dinner last night: one of her friends told her she had had an accident Sunday afternoon downtown and that the man whose car she hit was so very nice and that she had talked to his wife the next day and that she was just as nice as the man had been...talk went on and as she described the "man" my friend asked her his name...and she said "That's KEONI and JUDITH!"

Such a funny coincidence...I invited my friend to our New Year's Day open house and told her to bring the lady who hit my car!
