We got Devil Dogs when we went...I loved watching that conveyor belt carrying the loaves to be wrapped. You could see it through the big window in front of the bakery.

Sad day when the freeway came through and you could no longer drive past and smell that heavenly bread baking.

I'm going to borrow my daughter-in-law's bread machine and practice making rye and wheat breads for Flexy, one of these days. If I'm successful, I will buy my own machine.

There must be at least 50 and maybe a hundred
different brands of bread sold in the Bay Area of Calif.
These are small bakeries.

I have settled on Vital Vittals , raisen rolls.
It is still made by hand and is very popular

Orangic stuff , etc.

I'll be making sausage bread for a holiday party tomorrow evening.

Yesterday, my DIL and I went to a nice looking place that is known for its Reuben sandwiches. We didn't know the place at all and we were very hungry. Only after we had a drink and ate our food, did we notice that the bar stools and the tables were occupied by only women. We decided to stay a while just to see if some men would come in--they never did, but in the meantime, we noticed we were being eyed with much interest. It didn't take long for us to get of there, I tell you.

12771. judithathome - 12/18/2004 12:54:58 AM

I love Reuben sandwiches. Absolutely.

12772. Max Macks - 12/18/2004 1:38:54 AM

I looked in vain for the place here where one
can set the number of posts seen at one time.

I have to scroll down many to get to the last post
which is at the botom not the top of the page.

12773. Ms. No - 12/18/2004 1:44:22 AM

It's at the bottom of the tan sidebar. If you're in the posting window and you look just up and to the right you'll see a link to "Home" and one for "Back to the Top" and just below that is where you can set the posts per page.

12774. Max Macks - 12/18/2004 1:46:50 AM

Boy that was a fast reply,
thanks Ms.No.

12775. Ms. No - 12/18/2004 1:47:26 AM

BTW, I saw that PP had mentioned you starting a word games thread here. Are you amenable to that? If so we need to know what you'd like to call it so we can set a title.

I'm getting ready to be gone for the weekend, but if you email motemoderator@yahoo.com with a title preference we can get started on setting it up and have it ready to go on Monday morning.

12776. Ms. No - 12/18/2004 1:47:54 AM

Sometimes I'm on the ball! ;->

12777. Max Macks - 12/18/2004 1:53:13 AM

Wow setting the posts per view at 10
has made it much easier to find the last one.

Ms.No. Re. a word game thread
not sure it would work here because the Mote doesn't have
folders or what ever the term is
for when there are a number of threads to chose
from .

Lets talk about this when you get back next week.

Did you take a look at the link that PP has to my forum
in WorldCrossing?

Maximum Max's Fun With WERDZ

12778. Ms. No - 12/18/2004 1:55:03 AM

I only just had a chance to glance at it. I'll take a closer look and we can talk Monday.

Have a good weekend!

12779. Max Macks - 12/18/2004 2:10:11 AM

Same to you Ms.N.

12780. arkymalarky - 12/18/2004 3:57:37 AM

Judith, we ate at that soul food place we went to with you and Keoni and it was soooo good. Yams and collard greens and cabbage and ribs and catfish--they also had liver and some other stuff I didn't eat. And custard pie for dessert.

12781. judithathome - 12/18/2004 7:33:42 PM

Oh, swoon! I loved the food there! Maybe we can take MsNo when we all come see you next summer.

We're going to a Solstice party tonight...I'm taking along a pound of French feta cheese, two cans of baba ganoush, a jar of olive tampenade, a bag of pistachio nuts, and three boxes of pita chips made fresh at the Greek cafe down the street. We're also taking wine.

This guy is a glass artist and he always has a great mix of people at his parties. Can't wait to see who turns up tonight.

12782. arkymalarky - 12/18/2004 8:05:29 PM

Sounds like a wonderful evening!

Good idea for the summer. I think MsNo would really like that place.

Finishing the paper by Monday, then I'm set to enjoy the rest of my break, I hope. I'm looking forward to cleaning my house and relaxing in it for the rest of the holiday (except figuring semester grades, which won't take long).

12783. judithathome - 12/18/2004 9:51:43 PM

Is it cold at your place? Here, it is almost hot. I'm so sick of this up and down weather...just act like winter, damn it!

12784. arkymalarky - 12/18/2004 9:58:06 PM

It's 60F, but it had been pretty cold last week. I can't tell if it's going to be a harsh winter or not. We got down into the teens a couple of nights, then back up to 40s for lows.

12785. judithathome - 12/18/2004 10:15:50 PM

According to the squirrels' tails, it should be really cold...they are very bushy.
