One is very conservative when it comes to units of measure. I got a "weather station" for Christmas. It give the air pressure in hectoPascal but I have to mentally translate to mm Hg to understand.
By the way, most countries measure wind speed in miles per hour or km per hour. These figures are meaningless to me because here we use meter per second. I don't really know if this an example of Swedish eccentricity or if it is another example of us using an international standard that everybody else ignores, such as today's date 05-01-11. 13155. HectoPascal? I've never seen that used anywhere. But no, I tell a lie, the weather station we use here on site, a Vaisala that I installed many years ago measures barometric pressure in hPa. And wind speed in mph if I recall.
