The look you get when you realize that you've paid $550 for a machine that makes espresso that is no better than that made by a $10.00 pot. The main difference is that in the former, the steam is forced down through the coffee, while in the latter it is forced up.

You do get the steam thingie for foaming milk, though.

OK Mago has persuaded me to come out of the closet

I too am a instant coffee maker and drinker.

I alternate between Yuban and Nestles something.

For some years I was making coffe with one of those elaborate pyrex glass things with a paper filter
and then pouring most of the left over down the drain.

I would never have had the courage to admit this
were it not for that fearless Magoseph

INSTANT COFFEE DRINKERS , UNITE, YOU HAVE NOTHING TO LOOSE BUT YOUR BROWN WATER.

13235. Wombat - 1/13/2005 9:17:32 PM

Actually, twice the amount of Medaglia D'Oro instant with a lot of sugar is not bad from an eye-opening standpoint.

OK, so here I am in a new office building, waiting for the elevator and reading the directory...oncologoists....yoga...luncheon cafe...some construction company office.

Then I come across this:

Whole Body Dentistry

Anyone want to take a stab at what the heck that means????

13237. Magoseph - 1/13/2005 10:14:06 PM

Capped teeth?

13238. thoughtful - 1/13/2005 10:14:40 PM

I was thinking a crown for you head?

13239. PsychProf - 1/13/2005 10:15:16 PM

The effect that one's teeth and their problems have on the entire body?

13240. robertjayb - 1/13/2005 10:16:18 PM

Pelle and other Dave Barry fans should see this piece in Salon.

13241. Magoseph - 1/13/2005 10:16:31 PM

That's better, Prof.

13242. thoughtful - 1/13/2005 10:18:32 PM

i think that's it, pp...impact the mercury has on your system and all that, but really, it is a rather off-putting name.

I read that and my first reaction was no thanks! Don't need some jamoke trying to look for body cavities!!! And especially not try to fill them!!!!

13243. PelleNilsson - 1/13/2005 10:18:57 PM

Teeth implants you-know-where for new exciting experience during you-know-what?

13244. thoughtful - 1/13/2005 10:23:38 PM

Pelle! You're getting downright wild!

You are probably familiar with the basics of dental wellness–perhaps you had a cavity filled, a tooth extracted, or a root canal performed, and once the problem was treated you did not think about it again.

But the consequences of these traditional procedures can often have significant impact on your health.

WHOLE-BODY DENTISTRY™ introduces a new approach to dentistry: looking at your mouth as an indicator of overall heath and a link to illnesses that can attack other parts of your body. If you have health problems and have not found relief through traditional treatments, Whole-Body Dentistry can help unlock the secret to more complete wellness.

Whole-Body Dentistry™ is the acclaimed book by Mark A. Breiner, DDS, in private practice for 30 years, an esteemed lecturer, author, patient advocate, and industry expert. This important book explains the powerful impact that dental problems and procedures may have on your overall health and wellness.

Robert, thank you for linking the Salon article--I had fun reading it.

13247. thoughtful - 1/13/2005 11:07:13 PM

I'm still so pissed about the jaguars. Hubby always wanted one and we talked about wouldn't it be nice to take a jag body and stick it on a toyota frame and engine so the thing would actually run?

Tell me that's not a work of art.

13248. Jenerator - 1/13/2005 11:41:12 PM

I have always loved vintage Jaguars - 1966 and 1967 especially.

1966 E Coupe

And the 1967 MK II 340

Definitely works of art.

13249. wonkers2 - 1/13/2005 11:42:13 PM

Let's hope Ford doesn't do the same thing to Volvo.

Thoughtless, GM announced last week that Saturn is being merged with Opel. There will be only one engineering and design department. The only thing remaining of Saturn, eventually, will be women-friendly sales and service and the cooperative, consultative labor-management relations at the original Saturn plant in Kentucky.

13250. PelleNilsson - 1/13/2005 11:50:23 PM

Judith actually owns a Jaguar. Let's hear her views on the maintenance costs.

GM doesn't mess with Volvo. It's one of the moat profitable brands, if not the most priftable.

13251. wonkers2 - 1/13/2005 11:53:03 PM

Ford owns Volvo, not GM. GM owns Saab.

13252. thoughtful - 1/13/2005 11:54:53 PM

The old line was always jag owners needed 2 so you could still drive one while the other was in the shop.
