Glad you didn't have to lem-walk to survive the water. We were doused for weeks, and now it's sunny and cold. It's supposed to warm up to the mid 60s later this week, though.

Thoughtful, you remind me of the fellow in "The Hitchhikers Guide To The Galaxy".

I thought the same-the rain god that the cloudds loved and cherished and watered him wherever he went, only he was a lorry driver.

13391. thoughtful - 1/19/2005 3:36:12 PM

maybe i should change my moniker to joe btfsplk

13392. Magoseph - 1/19/2005 4:17:30 PM

Hello, everyone. Most allusions to cartoonish characters usually pass me by, but this time I know who Joe Btfsplk is, thanks to Zane Miller who compared Kerry to him at one point during the election.

I wonder how the guy was able to buy the 9mm?

13394. wonkers2 - 1/19/2005 4:23:44 PM

Oops! Wrong thread.

Anyone catching the History channels series on American Presidents. It's really good.

The more things change... the more things stay the same. George Bush is a kitten compared to the controversy surrounding Andrew Jackson and some of the other early presidents.

13396. Max Macks - 1/19/2005 10:16:25 PM

iiibbb

but were any of those as bad as Reagan
and the Bushies??

13397. iiibbb - 1/19/2005 10:34:22 PM

Watch the show... there are a lot of parallels between what's going on now, and Andrew Jackson's presidency... as well as Theodore Roosevelt...

It's interesting... it's good to see that we are not remarkable this day and age (not excusing Bush's shortcomings either).

I don't know if the ability to track my Amazon package through UPS is a good thing or not. I can go to the USPS site and see that the package was delivered to the Bell, California dispatch center yesterday which means that it's less than 40 miles from my delivery address.

So it could come today!!!

or it could languish until tomorrow

...or later.

On the better news front, I've finally gotten around to ordering regular phone service for the new place. Hardly new after 6 months of living there, but until the last box is emptied and the last tchotchke either disposed of or put away it's still sort of new.

I've been living with nothing but my cell phone for over a year now. It hasn't actually been a terrible thing. I'm not much of a phone person and long distance is free on the cell, but it's a drag and a half trying to have any kind of extended conversation on a cell phone when I'm at home.

Besides, one of these days I'll need to get back online at home and I'll need the hardline so I can hook up DSL.

13401. judithathome - 1/19/2005 10:57:33 PM

Jen, I think this is better put in another thread....

13402. Magoseph - 1/19/2005 11:09:20 PM

Jen, I moved post # 13400 to Conflict in the Middle East, where you undoubtedly wanted to put it.

13403. Jenerator - 1/19/2005 11:15:55 PM

No problem.

It was just something I thought of when I read the dream and comments about Rice.

13404. judithathome - 1/20/2005 12:46:18 AM

Well, I am all set to watch the orgy of Bush adulation tomorrow...my Not Me! bracelet came today and I will be wearing it with a full black outfit. Not leaving the house so I won't be spending One Damn Dime and I plan to turn my back on the TV when he takes the oath.

13405. Jenerator - 1/20/2005 1:39:05 AM

Oh my gosh, I have to tell my colleagues that it's not a joke.

Judith,

Why don't you turn off the tv and do something that brings you pleasure. You are pretty focused on Bush these days and it only seems to make you feel worse.

13406. judithathome - 1/20/2005 1:46:36 AM

Jen, I think it's important to see for myself the outrageous excesses they are willing to go to...it's going to give me great pleasure indeed.

Yes, I am focused on Bush and there's absolutely nothing wrong with that. I feel about him the way your side felt about Clinton. Take about an unhealthy interest...you people couldn't get enough about him, including what direction his penis was pointing. So don't worry about my interest in Bush and his cronies...they are going to throw a $40 million party tomorrow while "the nation is at war" and I want to see every bit of it. I'd also like to see how they can justify it. It seems that old "we're at war" canard applies only when it suits Bush's mood.

13407. seadate - 1/20/2005 8:17:46 AM

Hi LS! ...

For a moment, I considered posting a poltical remark ... then I came to my senses (or maybe just "non" senses). :-)

13408. angel-five - 1/20/2005 8:24:08 AM

I work in DC. The city's being forced to pick up most of the tab for this fucking monstrosity of a party. They've asked for more funds.

Guess where they were told to withdraw the funding from? You'll never guess.

That's right. Their Homeland Security budget.
