Currently he's traveling the country with his girlfriend --- taking her home to meet the folks --- so I think he was disappointed but not crushingly so. He was saying that it was kind of a relief because he's had to put his own bands and performances on hold during the whole AI tryout period. So we now have a person come in to check the house, pick up the mail, feed the cat, clean the kitty box, make sure the house is warm, etc. It costs something, but it leads to a lot of peace of mind. And the cat is a lot happier than being kenneled.
Last year when my mother's rental house was vacant and we went to FL to visit her, no one was checking on the house, the furnace went out and all the pipes froze. So much fun! 13908. Every winter this time, I make plans to leave this area forever, of course knowing that I never will as long as Flexy is alive and well. That could be a long time now that he walks everyday, eats the same food I eat, and take his blood pressure medicine. 13909. thoughtful - 2/23/2005 6:20:17 PM When it was really cold here...like below 0...our storm door freezes shut at the bottom. The front door leaks enough heat that the moisture condenses and drips on the inside of the storm door and overnight freezes solid to the sill.

I got a $150 ticket for late tags a few weeks ago and took a personal day off work to go to court today at the policeman's suggestion. After watching the judge banter with dwi and speeding people and reduce their fines significantly, I was less than thrilled to find my fine reduced by a whopping $25.

The system profits by penalizing the well-meaning and generally law abiding. Criminals and habitual law-breakers don't care and the courts figure it's useless trying to get blood from stones so they make up the difference giving a hard time to the people who will put up with it.

No, good point. I was thinking 1) he didn't like my looks or 2) the last name was a negative for him--very possible in a town this size with a husband's fam whose name isn't very common and is linked with local politics.
I will have something to say if I'm stopped on that road again. I intend to get my money's worth next time.

You're so right, Mags. And I could've taken a sick day. Oh well.
It really wasn't a hectic day, and I slept a bit later and got home quite a bit earlier. Plus I got to eat out.
I just got mad after the fine, then in Walmart (I still have to go there sometimes, unfortunately) I ran in to grab a few things and brought just my checkbook. The register requested my drivers license, a random thing that doesn't happen very often, so I had to go out in 45 degree rain halfway across the parkinglot with no umbrella, in a dress and heels to retrieve it (oh yes, if you ever go to court dress down--way down--or you'll stick out like a sore thumb).
Needless to say, I wasn't in the best frame of mind after that.
