J@h, yesterday I filled up with regular at $2.04/gal...midrange is $2.14 and high test is $2.24. And that's at a reasonably priced station...other stations are much higher.

You remember Scott Peterson’s trial—I became so incensed by the coverage, I just screamed—get this off, please. I will not watch anything anymore about Michael Jackson or about any other celebrity. I’m so getting tired of watching the same pundits every night, I persuaded Flexy to watch a movie instead at least every other day. Of course, I absolutely cannot watch anything with Bush in it, I have to leave the room.

Unless you were in the NYC area, you probably wouldn't know about Tiwana Brawley. I was so sick of hearing her name at the time that I thought I'd die if I heard it again. But just like all the other flashes in the pan, she suddenly vanished off the headlines never to be heard from again. It's so strange. You're left wondering what ever happened to her. Funny, I don't remember media overload when I was growing up...maybe I just wasn't tuned into the media so much in those days. Now it seems like that's the only way the on air media knows how to behave.

I remember vaguely about her--she made up some story that Sharpton ran away with, if I remember correctly--it was everywhere, toughtful, if that is the one. We are not slighted at all, we in the boonies, with anything anymore, you know.

Mags, could you go to Religion here and see if my link works to Sukey's forum? I typed it out correctly but it won't link for me...that happens sometimes when I need to reboot. If it is a working link, I don't want to go through the rebooting process.

It works, Judith.

Amazing how we go from inundation to vague recollections. As I recall she said she was kidnapped and raped but it turned out that she was lying and had been too late at a party or something and was afraid to come home and face her parents. Sharpton got involved in her defense and that may be where he made a name for himself.

Of course I could be confused. Law & Order did a story line on this...as they've done on all the major headlines...and i may have gotten them mixed up.

Law & Order is amazing at how fast they can turn a headline into a story line.

I remember they did one on the hedda nessbaum case and then they recently did a follow-up storyline on the joel steinburg character that was very good.

Obviously, Clinton had too heavy a schedule since his operation in September. I really would not want anything to happen to him in my lifetime—I kind of became attached to the person, ridiculous as that sentiment may be.

International Women's Day

I had to steal this from Hobbes.

Who stole it from Katharina.

Last night, the county police finally arrested the motorcyclists who roamed around scaring the residents at night, idling in front of their house for no reason they could imagine. The scuttlebutt is that some new bigwig resident lodged a complaint that was taken seriously this time. It was a lot of fun to see the miscreants in the police cars and their machines wheeled into a police van. The motorcyclists came from another area and used a short cut meant for the schoolchildren. I usually scared them pulling a light switch and blinding them away. We just didn’t know the residents were in such an uproar about these disreputable characters. The new one, who went up the police hierarchy, has a new set of twins and he and his wife needed sleep, they told us. They both went about organizing households with small children and there was quite a crowd watching the ruckus.

We had several incidents before between residents and motorcyclists, even involving the police a few times. This time, we are certain the motorcycles are gone forever, a relief for most of us.

You may or may not recall, Pelle, that, it must be several years ago now, that one of my sons expressed an interest in blacksmithing. He is now ready to go off to university and there is one university which has the ultimate blacksmith "programme" in the United States. Southern Illinois University at Carbondale. We goin' to try to get the boy out there.

Your advice was to let the little fucker go.

I remember and I wish him the best of luck. I admire people with the skill of the hand, something I sadly lack.
