Good to be seen. Excellent work on the site, all around. I've been lurking from time to time over the past couple weeks and it's been fascinating to see the level of energy and dedication you all have shown in getting this up in such a relatively short time-span. Very impressive.

And it WORKS, to boot!

Or it seems to, anyhow.

Algerian.

131. CalGal - 9/12/1999 6:35:21 AM

Really, Grey. There's no need to be insulting.

Sorry, Cal.

How about calling this place "The Toy Shop" ? As someone who has had the exciting, unnerving, exhilarating, embarrassing (all of the above) experience of screwing up royally in my Hosting Thread, it would provide an excellent place to PRACTICE .

Hi again,

Just wanted to share the ad on the cover of ForPoetry.com for The Mote. ForPoetry My small way of making up for previous insults. Although I have to say, er, I enjoy giving and getting insults once in a while. Call it a Love-Hate relationship with you guys.

I plan to include an ad on my next Update Email for ForPoetry -- and I'd like to mention The Mote as a "cafe" meeting place for poetry discussions. I'm thinking that perhaps I can invite some of the Big Names to come over and discuss their work or a poem. I know Joe Duemer would do it if I asked, providing he's not too busy.

Of course, we'd have to initiate a Pandora's Thread (oops! sorry, calm down) I mean a Poetry Thread for the adventure.

What do you think?

136. CalGal - 9/12/1999 7:37:09 AM

Hey, Blaise. Why not suggest the Poetry thread in Suggestions? And it's nice to see you. Don't forget to put target="new" in your link--it opens a new window.

137. Blaise - 9/12/1999 7:40:35 AM

Thanks CalGal and PP...

I'll post above message in Suggestions.

Hey Blaise, Kurt!

Feels like Old Home Day.

139. bloodnfire - 9/12/1999 8:18:28 AM

How about calling this thread "The Toy Shop"? This would explain to those of us who are new to P.C.s what 'Toys' are, and give us a place to practice so that we can become EXPERT in HTMLLING

140. coralreef - 9/12/1999 8:20:39 AM

Or The Wading Pool. Try the Mote is fine until someone comes up with a clear winner.

To answer the question regarding statistics in the Mote News column:

"Beats the hell outta me, but our grammar could probably use a little work."

Mondaugen,

Old pal. I'm delighted to see you here. Please contribute something which falls under my purview. Would you like a Diary?

143. KurtMondaugen - 9/12/1999 8:56:37 AM

If you mean would I like to read one of your immensely lucid and illuminating travel-diary entries, well, duh. And as you well know, my entire International experience can be summed up in two words ("Tijuana jail"), so I don't know how much I'll be able to contribute. I can promise to follow the thread with my usual level of interest, however.

144. marjoribanks - 9/12/1999 8:59:21 AM

A day in the life of Mondaugen. Even a solitary evening. That is what I am proposing. The sub-thread can be established immediately.

145. marjoribanks - 9/12/1999 9:02:04 AM

What did Mondaugen do today? What did Mondaugen et today? What did Mondaugen listen to today? What does Mondaugen think as the day comes to an end. The possibilities are endless.

146. KurtMondaugen - 9/12/1999 9:05:05 AM

My god, marj, you're not serious? I can't think of a more potentially tedious tedious project.

"9/17/99

Played with the cats this afternoon. Noticed the older one has a cut on her thigh. Hmmm. Waited for that file to finish downloading. Changed the record. Looked into the refrigerator again. Nothing had changed since the previous time. Picked up that stupid book I bought the other day. Just can't get into it. Picked up Orson Bean's "Me and the Orgone" for the fifteenth time instead. Changed the record. Checked the download. Looked into the refrigerator. Stared at the crack in the ceiling for a while. Wonder if it's gotten bigger at all. Checked the download. Looked into the refrigerator. Thought about doing the dishes."

You see what I'm getting at?
See what I mean?
