1476. theDiva - 6/28/2000 7:00:17 PM The page source, yes, but now you need to upload the audio file. If the audio file itself doesn't have a URL, it can't be accessed from the web. 1477. PelleNilsson - 6/28/2000 7:34:00 PM Now I'm even more confused. The URL above is the URL for the audio file and that's the one I have linked to. 1478. theDiva - 6/28/2000 9:02:53 PM It can't be if it's an html file. It has to be something like http://www.dourhumorlessswede.org/pelle/soundfile.wav 1479. Indiana Jones - 6/28/2000 9:47:34 PM Pelle:
In the source file (test.html) there's a line that says
serverpath="C:\"
You need to change that to the location of the file on the server (assuming the file test.rm is on the server). It likely ought to be
serverpath="http://www.geocities.com/pelle108/" 1480. PelleNilsson - 6/29/2000 4:25:07 AM Diva and Indy
What I'm testing is streaming media on Geocities. You get RealProducer for free. Your recording goes into a source file, in my case test.rm and then when RealProducer prepares the files to be uploaded it generates test.html amd test.rpm where test. html is the one to be linked to.
Now, I've not been able to get Realproducer's "publish" function to work so I used Geocities' File Manager to upload these three files. This is probably where the problem is, as Indy says I'll have to try to change that line in the .html file. 1481. theDiva - 6/29/2000 4:26:40 AM I defer to Indy on this one. I am but a humble gubment paperpusher. 1482. rubberducky - 6/29/2000 4:29:30 AM who is FAB! 1483. theDiva - 6/29/2000 4:43:13 AM heeheeheehee...... 1484. labwabbit - 6/29/2000 9:52:46 AM Test

1485. PelleNilsson - 6/29/2000 8:42:28 PM Do me a favour and click here. The link opens in a new window.
Do you get an error message to the effect that the requested file is not found? 1486. DaveM - 6/29/2000 8:45:00 PM Yes. I got the error message. 1487. PelleNilsson - 6/29/2000 9:04:50 PM Sigh. 1488. Indiana Jones - 6/29/2000 9:49:52 PM Pelle: I can pull up the file itself--and hear your lovely voice--with no problem by entering
http://www.geocities.com/pelle108/test.rm
so it has to be in the test.html file that it's not working. Did you try manually editing the line that says
serverpath=""
to what I suggested above (1479)?
1489. PelleNilsson - 6/29/2000 10:22:24 PM Indy
Yes, I did that so I think the HTML file is OK, but there is a .rpm file with only one line,file:/test.rm. I cannot get that right. It work when I log in from my own computer but not when I use another one. So, there must be some connection back to my hard disk although I cannot see any.
I tried to link to the .rm file but it doesn't work.
1490. Indiana Jones - 6/29/2000 10:26:37 PM Pelle: When I just type
http://www.geocities.com/pelle108/test.rm
into the location bar, it works.
I'll try copying your source over to my machine and seeing what I can do. 1491. PelleNilsson - 6/29/2000 10:32:50 PM Yes, that works for me to.
I'm grateful for your help. 1492. Indiana Jones - 6/29/2000 10:36:55 PM Pelle: I have a feeling it shouldn't work this way, but it does...
There's a line that says PARAM NAME="src" VALUE="test.rpm"
Change the "rpm" to "rm"
Then right after that it says EMBED SRC="test.rpm"
Change that to "test.rm"
When I did both of those in the test.html that I copied over, it worked, but I'm not sure that's the correct way to fix it. 1493. PelleNilsson - 6/29/2000 10:47:35 PM Funny, Indy, I was following the same line of thought but dismissed it. I'll try now. 1494. PelleNilsson - 6/29/2000 10:57:33 PM OK I did it, logged in from another machine and IT WORKED!
The final test. 1495. Indiana Jones - 6/29/2000 11:06:54 PM Works for me, Pelle. I think your suspicion expressed in 1489 is probably the right way to fix it. That is, the html is supposed to look in that file (test.rpm) and find the location of test.rm, but for some reason it's not working. Someone familiar with RealAudio would know better, but at least this kludge works.
You could try changing your html back to point to test.rpm and changing test.rpm to say "http://www.geocities.com/pelle108/test.rm"
That might be the preferred way to fix it.
