A Fenian man quoting Cromwell with approval?

Times have changed!

God curse you Oliver Cromwell
You raped our motherland
I hope you're rotting down in hell
For the horrors you brought to Ireland

or words to that effect.

Just because he was a murderous fruitcake doesn't mean he's not quotable.

For Judith:

15300. judithathome - 6/2/2005 7:06:52 PM

Oh, that is so excellent, Jay!

I'm seriously thinking of going to church on Sunday...RatFink Perry has decided that bit about separation of church and state in the constitution is not all that serious and is signing into law an abortion bill and a anti-gay rights bill IN A CHURCH here in Fort Worth. I may go down there and hold a sign asking him WHAT ABOUT THE CHILDREN of Texas who may have their schools closed by the Texas Supreme Court because he and his cronies in Austin couldn't make time for school finance reform.

But fetuses are so much more cuddly and lovable than those pesky birthed children who have to be fed and clothed and educated and disciplined.

Ms. No -- My usually impeccable sources tell me that the secret, ultimate object of your leather working studies is this:

The custom-designed, cyber-spacialized MoteWhip for flogging recalcitrant posters.

In another development, we are going down to the countryside tomorrow for a couple of days. The big project is to build a new landing stage, a somewhat pretentious term for a 2x3 m contraption. But the contraption will be a floating one so the construction will be less than trivial.

15303. judithathome - 6/2/2005 9:04:20 PM

I think we call that a raft.

15304. Ms. No - 6/2/2005 9:06:24 PM

Hahaha, well, we only paint tooled leather black if we're hopelessly inept crafters. I do, however, know a couple of folks who make rather more exotic leather crafts.

I've no idea what the cost is like, but I know my dad built the floating structure for a raft about that size out of oil drums. They were welded together and then the wooden platform was secured over the top. It got us down the Tar river for several summers flying under Redbeard's flag.

15305. Ms. No - 6/2/2005 9:07:17 PM

It's only a raft if it leaves the dock.....what that makes a car that never leaves the yard I couldn't say. Art?

From our friend PsychProf:

The wedding was all that I wanted and more...I'll get some pics up when they come out. Ms Oz looked so beautiful it took my breathe away. And I now have a new daughter. First dance was so neat, swing...first dance of bride and her Dad was to Woolly Bully, and Ms Oz and son danced to My Prayer, Dion-Bocelli...I danced all night, and the last dance had 120 people form circle around bride and groom, and move in and out to "That is what friends are for"...best man and woman wrote speeches in tandem, each taking turns making us laugh and cry as they characterized their love for their brother/sister...and the wedding vows...too much for me to take, as I wept like a child...the chapel was on a private woman’s school, with sunlight bathing us thru many windows... .for three days I never got more tha a few hours of sleep. Well, the couple is in Iceland now, climbing glaciers and golfing at midnight. We await the video, but for now we have the DVD my youngest(best man) made that captured the history of bride and groom with pics and film clips, accompanied by Enya and S-G, Bookends...Ms Oz and I watch every night.

Where's he been?

MIA, whilst the Prof boogies, I trust he realizes that he's missing out on a major league development in sports...

15308. thoughtful - 6/2/2005 10:34:09 PM

brother is still in ICU...they can't get his bp down. Very frustrating.

15309. judithathome - 6/2/2005 10:59:08 PM

Oh, so sorry to hear that. Sending good vibes his way....

15310. arkymalarky - 6/2/2005 11:11:43 PM

15311. judithathome - 6/2/2005 11:45:00 PM

Arky, you've got mail...

15312. Magoseph - 6/3/2005 8:57:49 AM

thoughtful, I hope there'll be better news today.

Hello, Mac!

15313. Macnas - 6/3/2005 10:16:28 AM

Eh up Mago.

15314. Magoseph - 6/3/2005 10:35:28 AM

Where's the humor in this cartoon--can you tell me?

15315. Macnas - 6/3/2005 10:45:46 AM

I suppose that, it's saying most of the american public have forgotton or never really heard of watergate until now.

Piss-poor cartoon in any case.

I like Dilbert, Barkeater lake, and Get fuzzy.

15316. Magoseph - 6/3/2005 11:21:12 AM

Since it was in Harper's Magazine, I assumed the meaning escaped my understanding.
