Where is the locale for two summer olympics to date?

15516. Magoseph - 6/16/2005 2:38:29 PM

I couldn't get in for a while--so I mailed the Gatekeeper, but then I found that I could get in on IE, for goodness sakes!

15517. Magoseph - 6/16/2005 2:40:18 PM

I still can't get in on Firefox. I wonder why.

Thank you, wabbit, got it right this time.

I think you'd really like Thoreau, Alistair. I finally got Bob to read Walden last year and he loved it.

Ulgine, congrats on the new job.
And remember if that doesn't work out, all you need to do is pretend to be kidnapped and then show up back home...whole new career opportunity!

Mags-- wait a minute. La Fleur du mal, Chabrol? BCBG cousins who have the hots for each other, incest, murderous auntie/killer in a summerhouse/political disgrace all on a bordeaux beach.

Am I right?

The whole thing is this slurr or images. it wasn't half bad but it wasn't half good either. which means the rest was, just watchable.

Yes, that is the one, Web--my brother insisted that I see it because he wanted me to find out which personages were most like some uncles and aunts in our mother’s family. To me now, this movie is a black satire with excellent actors—not a movie I care to ever see again because it brought back to me some unpleasant memories. It was a chock to realize that my father’s family, long vilified by my mother’s family, had been in fact the best one of the twos.

15524. alistairconnor - 6/17/2005 10:34:00 AM

hmm I confess I haven't seen it. I'm surprised how few of Chabrol's films I've seen. I should start renting DVDs... but I would need a time machine to be able to watch them... or learn to give up sleeping perhaps.

15525. Magoseph - 6/17/2005 11:59:32 AM

... but I would need a time machine to be able to watch them... or learn to give up sleeping perhaps.

I would too need one—now I just wait until they are on TV and then tape them with the DVR and see them whenever I need to be entertained. There’s so much information I want to read while I’m on-line, I have no time during the way for watching TV, except for the news, of course—just in case I’m about to disintegrate with the rest of us, I want to know it’s happening.

15526. judithathome - 6/17/2005 4:22:28 PM

I've seen Violette and a few others...I'll never forget the ad at the Art Theatre for Violette...a FILM by Claude Chabrol!

I even bought a hat with a slouch brim like Violette wore in the fim and I used to intone...a HAT, by Claude Charol!...when I'd put it on.

Hi, Judith--any news from your doctor yet?

15528. Ms. No - 6/17/2005 5:06:27 PM

Oh, Jude, you crack me up! And, yes, what does the doc have to say?

15529. Ms. No - 6/17/2005 5:07:28 PM

I've never seen any of Chabrol's films, but I notice there are a lot of them available through Netflix and several of them look quite interesting.

What are the top recommendations?

15530. judithathome - 6/17/2005 5:21:58 PM

I think they're all good. I like his work.

The doc hasn't callled.

15531. Ms. No - 6/17/2005 6:37:00 PM

Well, that sounds as if it isn't horrid unless he's the kind of doc who just doesn't care. Still, if he knows enough not to call you then he should call you and let you know. You've already been off your feet for nearly a week, now you've got the whole weekend to get through before he's back in the office. That's not very conscientious of him.

15532. wonkers2 - 6/17/2005 8:20:25 PM

My experience has been that the doctors with good reputations take more patients than they can handle thoroughly. And they are poor communicators.

15533. judithathome - 6/17/2005 8:26:14 PM

My doctor is very conscientious; he called me the day of the test to see how I was doing and he said as soon as he gets the results, he will call. He hasn't called because he hasnt received the radiology report...there were about 50 people in that place the day I was there and I'm sure that many more each day since.

I'm not blaming the doctor. I know he would ahve called had he anything to report to me.

It IS maddening, though.

15534. judithathome - 6/17/2005 8:30:39 PM

I was told to wait while the radiologist "looked it over" and I feel is something had been really amiss, the tech or the radiologist would have noticed something and rushed it through. The fact it's taken this long with no report makes me think it wasn't a clot.
