Marshame, listen to your daughter.

16305. judithathome - 8/25/2005 7:16:52 PM

Jen, knowing what your mom's work is, I can see why she would be reluctant to be indisposed but you simply HAVE to convince her how important it is to recover and do all the doctor says after the surgery. Uppermost in her mind should be physical therapy and tell her not to skimp on it.

If she goes ahead and ignores this stuff, she will end up in a wheelchair and unable to navigate...I'm serious; she really needs to get on this ASAP.

Thanks Macnas.

Judith,

I totally and completely agree.

I just got back from lunch with her and we talked about it all. I asked her to promise that she would follow doctor's orders and she freely agreed. I then expressed my concern that she would get worse if she ignored tell-tale symptoms and pains during recovery. She agreed.

This may be manipulative, but I then directly asked her what her last wishes were if the surgery were to take an unexpected turn for the worse.

I think it got through to her. She went on and on for at least 30 minutes. It was nice to see her be real and to be concerned!

I think it may work out after all.

I'll let you all know on Tuesday how the surgery went.

That would be great, Jen, to let us know how everything went.

Best of luck to you both.

Jenerator, best wishes for your mom...she is a nurse, right? Worst patients behind doctors, IMO.

Stick to your guns on the hours you're putting in....alternate hours shouldn't have to mean decreased pay.

Drop the clubs to let them know you're serious....especially in the light of needing to find care for your own child.

That's what my priorities would be on the job & home fronts, at least, if I understand correctly that the clubs are pro-bone. I mean, pro bono. winky

And since we are now switching to the all about me channel, I interviewed for a job yesterday and got rejected.

10000 applications for 400 jobs at a new WalMart in Oakland.

I'm screwed!

16310. Magoseph - 8/26/2005 9:26:09 AM

Hey, Ulgine, still up?

16311. Ulgine Barrows - 8/26/2005 9:33:37 AM

Magoseph! Yes, and you are too!

Providence smiles.

16312. Ulgine Barrows - 8/26/2005 9:50:23 AM

If that was a stare-down, you won.

16313. Magoseph - 8/26/2005 9:51:24 AM

I've been watching your progress around here between doing crossword puzzles.--I like the early morning hours. Such peace and silence, I can breathe and think.

16314. Magoseph - 8/26/2005 9:53:02 AM

Also, it is when I answer my oversea e-mail correspondents.

16315. Ulgine Barrows - 8/26/2005 10:00:11 AM

What did you learn during your watch?

16316. Magoseph - 8/26/2005 10:04:23 AM

That you were wide-awake and very sharp as usual. Learned that my brother is much better. Figured out the NYT puzzle without googling for a change. There's more...

16317. Ulgine Barrows - 8/26/2005 10:07:31 AM

My father-in-law is an early riser. Somehow he raised his son, my husband, to know that anyone that likes their sleep, is.....

suspect?
evil?
lazy?
tired?

They like me, I can tell. Why they can't sleep beyond noon, the perverts, is beyond me.

16318. Ulgine Barrows - 8/26/2005 10:09:57 AM

Your brother is ill?

16319. Magoseph - 8/26/2005 10:15:03 AM

Suspect, I'd say--because whoever likes to sleep until noon must want to escape something in his life, besides being lazy beyond words.

16320. Magoseph - 8/26/2005 10:20:13 AM

He was taken to the hospital because he thought he was having a heart attack--turns out that he had nothing, except that he panicked and made himself sick. He is having a wonderful life these days--he who worked very hard to assure a happy and prosperous old age is in fear that death will deprive him of this wish. I think he should not worry all that much, considering that we have a bunch or relatives still living well into their nineties.

16321. Ulgine Barrows - 8/26/2005 10:26:50 AM

Harsh mistress,
I think you get stuck here all the time, lacking night vision.

16322. Magoseph - 8/26/2005 10:30:31 AM

I don't suppose you're talking to me, but you might at that. So, tell me, what do you exactly mean by your last post--I have no vision about anything.

16323. Magoseph - 8/26/2005 10:30:59 AM

Are you waxing poetic again?
