Alistair--sorry for the confusion.

17707. jayackroyd - 12/7/2005 5:06:10 AM

And thanks again Mags for doing a better job of promoting the book than I was doing.

Thoughtful--I did pass on that photo to a correspondent who sends me weird pictures. thanks.

And, for some reason, I want to say how happy I am that we've kept this site going. I was talking to somebody about it, and had a moment of realization that, you know, this is really pretty cool.

17708. wonkers2 - 12/7/2005 6:25:12 AM

I agree. However, my efforts to get a couple of my local friends involved haven't borne fruit. We could use some more participants.

17709. Magoseph - 12/7/2005 2:44:13 PM

The trouble about getting some local or on-line friends to participate here is that they ask too many questions about the Moties. Since they know you, they want to know the same particulars about the rest of us and I am not willing to give information about any of us.

Hello, everyone--Today, I'm getting a haircut, buying some thermal underwear for Flexy, going to lunch with my daughter-in-law, and then to her house in order to admire the latest developments in the "Lake Room".

17710. Magoseph - 12/7/2005 2:49:07 PM

Hey, Mac, wabbit wants you to check Arts, Crafts and Culture.
(Sorry, wabbit)

17711. wonkers2 - 12/7/2005 3:07:19 PM

Yes, and I have a number of friends who aren't aware of my dirty little shadow, The Cap'n. He'd be a big surprise to some of them. My views on Bush aren't a secret to anyone, however.

17712. wonkers2 - 12/7/2005 3:09:19 PM

One of my brothers lurks and posts occasionally. I don't think anyone is aware of our connection.

17713. Magoseph - 12/7/2005 3:32:21 PM

Wonks, is the brother as tall and as good-looking as you are? Is he single? Does he have any money? What kind of car does he drive? Is he a religious fanatic? Does he like Bush? Does he eat meat?

Can I have his picture?

17714. jayackroyd - 12/7/2005 3:32:58 PM

What'll they think of next? Liberal Blogger postage stamps

17715. Magoseph - 12/7/2005 3:42:44 PM

I wonder if the name of this site—BO ZARTZ was fashioned after the French word “Beaux-Arts”.

17716. labwabbit - 12/7/2005 3:52:38 PM

Hello Mago,
Sorry I missed you last fly-by.

PS: I know your "caboose" would hold its' own on any train. heh heh.

17717. labwabbit - 12/7/2005 4:13:41 PM

dear wabbit,
I hope that for whatever reason you are going to a hospital, (I know it's not for the food), that it turns out better than expected.

I'll be hitting the high seas today, perhaps until Christmas. Good Luck and Best wishes for a speedy recovery.
I hope to see you back here PRONTO!

17718. Magoseph - 12/7/2005 4:16:19 PM

I really miss you, lab--send an email at magoseph@yahoo.com when you can.

17719. labwabbit - 12/7/2005 4:22:23 PM

Got it Mago.

I currently have no inet based mail...but will send one from home asap.
Miss you lots too you know.

Has anyone heard from absensia lately? She hasn't been in the pink for quite some time.

17721. judithathome - 12/8/2005 12:21:41 AM

This city is in crisis mode...28 degrees and icy streets. Anything going on tonight has been canceled, citywide. We are SUCH wusses here in Texas.

Heard from her a few months ago but not recently, Lab.

The trouble about getting some local or on-line friends to participate here is that they ask too many questions about the Moties. Since they know you, they want to know the same particulars about the rest of us and I am not willing to give information about any of us.

I've never seen that at all. Lots of the early Fray people had connections as friends or family, and no telling how many lurked. My dad's the one who first clued me into the Fray, in fact. I've told everyone I've invited about the dynamic here, including Bro and Mose, who've both posted here but haven't gotten into it like I have--I think mostly due to our size and how long we've known eachother. Unfortunately, when things were very volatile I couldn't get people to participate, and usually didn't bother to ask.

I love the Mote like it is, but I'd love to see people come in here, too. I think the only real way without being linked to a high-traffic site is to invite people we know. But like any small community, if you give yourself a chance to warm up to it and for them to include you, it's a great thing. Most people just don't pursue it that far, or they're more attracted to places with more excitement and more people--if they're forum-types at all.

I've had a friend or two post once or twice in the past, and I've invited several to read it, especially when something was discussed that I knew they'd be interested in. IRL I routinely refer to friends and things said "in my forum"--which all my friends and family understand is The Mote.

And when Judith's here, she routinely calls me "Arky," whoever we happen to be around. ;-)

Ice and snow are two different things, and ice on these roads is very treacherous. In fact, one of our state legislators has recently been through a very unpleasant lawsuit because a few years ago he slid into a car that had already slid off the road, killing the three people who were in it. I never heard how things came out, but I will not drive on ice.

17724. arkymalarky - 12/8/2005 2:11:25 AM

Snow, on the other hand, is very fun. Unfortunately we rarely have it in this part of the state.

17725. jayackroyd - 12/8/2005 2:12:34 AM

That's funny because I occasionally get email from jexster, with his IRL name attached, but I still think of him as "jex."
