17797. thoughtful - 12/13/2005 4:22:24 PM Hi Mags, wassup? 17798. thoughtful - 12/13/2005 4:23:36 PM I've got 2 parties to go to this weekend. One I'm asked to bring something sweet...besides my husband that is, so I thought I'd make up a batch of toll house cookies which are always such hot sellers, but make half the batch with white chocolate chips and macadamia nuts..the other half with the trad'l semisweet choc chips. Whaddya think? 17799. Magoseph - 12/13/2005 6:08:19 PM I think it's a wonderful idea for you to make these cookies. I just wish I could come over and sample them. 17800. Ms. No - 12/13/2005 6:41:40 PM Ooh! Those sound delicious, Thoughtful!
I've only got one party to cook for this weekend but I'm doing double duty with an appetizer and a dessert. Appetizer is a Spinach Artichoke dip and dessert is either Sweet Potato or Key Lime Pie. The deciding factor will be how much time I've got to do it. Key Lime is ridiculously fast and easy.
17801. Macnas - 12/13/2005 6:43:08 PM Hello No.
I like banoffi me. 17802. thoughtful - 12/13/2005 6:43:26 PM Oh I LOVE key lime pie. When I make it, I melt semi sweet choc bits and brush a coating of the melted choc over the baked pie crust before I fill it. It adds an extra je ne c'est qua! 17803. Macnas - 12/13/2005 6:45:54 PM I see chocolate chip figures large in your cooking thoughtful...
17804. Macnas - 12/13/2005 6:46:40 PM Or apple tart, with a nice sour kick to it, that's good too. 17805. wonkers2 - 12/13/2005 6:50:24 PM How about some New Orleans pecan pie with lots of pecans and not much filling. 17806. Macnas - 12/13/2005 6:56:18 PM I've never had pecan pie.
Or pecan anything for that matter, are they tasty? 17807. Ms. No - 12/13/2005 6:58:13 PM What a great idea, T'ful! I'm going to have to try that.
Mac,
Mmmm, banoffi! That's another one to try. It sounds delicious. Last year I did a green apple and cheddar pie that was pretty good, but I've never been much of a dessert maker so it's all kind of new to me.
Wonk,
Ah, my grandmother used to make the best Pecan Pie! And yes, it's better with more nuts and less..."goo"...whatever that tannish-jellish stuff is. 17808. Macnas - 12/13/2005 7:02:58 PM Well, my missus says its the best dessert you can make without having to cook anything.
Although, I do find the part where you boil the tin of condensed milk to be a bit nervewracking. 17809. Magoseph - 12/13/2005 7:13:06 PM For Ms. No:
17810. Macnas - 12/13/2005 7:16:33 PM Looks like a cross between a flowerpot and an ashtray. 17811. Macnas - 12/13/2005 7:17:01 PM Forgive me, I don't mean to be mean. 17812. thoughtful - 12/13/2005 7:20:44 PM Funny you should say that mac, as choc chips rarely figure into my cooking. I rarely bake any more and when I do it's usually to make healthier bkfst foods to go with our full-sized bkfsts, e.g., we made orange-currant scones with whole wheat flour this weekend.
And when i have an excuse to bake, it's usually for the summer picnics at my uncle's who hates chocolate.
So this is a real treat for me to be able to express my choc-loving inner self. 17813. Macnas - 12/13/2005 7:24:25 PM Ah I know that girl. I'm only codding. I read your posts in the health thread, I know how careful you are of your diet. 17814. thoughtful - 12/13/2005 7:28:00 PM yeah but if i'm so careful then how come i have 10 lbs to lose and don't know where it came from! Damn! 17815. Macnas - 12/13/2005 7:28:01 PM Anyways, I'm away home, before I really annoy someone.
See yez tomorrow. 17816. thoughtful - 12/13/2005 7:29:09 PM my gf and i used to bake like crazy after schoool. one year we got together and mades tons of xmas cookies. Another time we got together and spent 2 days making napoleons from scratch.
