defenestrate?

hmm.. four syllables, could be of use some day?

1782. Macnas - 7/28/2006 3:17:36 PM

It's a great word.

1783. Wombat - 7/28/2006 3:22:20 PM

As in the defenestration of Prague.

1784. Macnas - 7/28/2006 3:29:53 PM

Wasn't used as a method of execution there?

1785. Macnas - 7/28/2006 3:30:21 PM

"wasn't it" I should have said.

1786. Wombat - 7/28/2006 4:11:33 PM

Hmm.

Apparently there were a number of defenestrations in Prague over the centuries. According to Wikipedia, In the 15th century, recalcitrant members of the Prague town council were defenestrated by Hussites. In the 17th century, representatives of the Imperial government were defenestrated by Protestant nobles, which is considered to be one of the opening events of the 30 Years War. Unlike their predecessors--who were hurled onto the massed spears of their enemies--the 17th century defenestratees landed in a pile of horse manure, and survived. They considered it a miracle; their enemies noted that they had returned to whence they came.

In the 20th Century, rebel leader Imre Nagy was thought to have been defenestrated after the failure of the 1956 revolt.

Moral: when in Prague, stay away from the windows!

1787. PelleNilsson - 7/28/2006 5:12:57 PM

But if Nagy was defenestrated it was certainly in Budapest?

1788. wonkers2 - 7/28/2006 5:36:50 PM

Cap'n Dirty sez, "The Cap'n would rather be defenestrated than castrated."

Yes, all about the good ol' days, but where else are you going to get such a unique discussion from such a varied group as what just happened here?

Khaval wasn't on the Fray unless she had a different moniker.(?)

1771. Jenerator - 7/28/2006 3:01:10 AM

And she was a psycho bitch from hell, no wonder you were fond of her.

I'd rather exchange ideas with Khaval any day. Jenerator, you're a dullard, as far as I can tell.

A dullard who fancies herself Christian, which is even worse.

1791. Ulgine Barrows - 8/30/2006 7:34:07 AM

A cute dullard, though.

I remember years ago, this really ugly guy who had terrible acne scars, we used to hang out. Go swimming and skiing. He told me I was really lucky to be good-looking.

I'm sure people have told you that also, Jenerator.

My familys not rich by any means,
But I feel we won the lottery that day,
The rock swallowed the girl,
And I cried as cameras caught my eyes,
My tears turned into butterflies,
They fly away as caskets close
A new day comes you'll wake unfold,
Smile when you feel the sunlight,
You feel the sunlight,
You feel the sunlight
You feel the sunlight,

Snails see the benefits,
The beauty in every inch
Oh, why, why, why, why, oh, why,
Are you quick to kiss?

Baby maybe, I spoke to soon
I'll touch you once you make the first move,
Snails see the benefits,
The beauty in every inch

1793. arkymalarky - 8/30/2006 10:21:16 PM

I loved Khaval. A sharp, intense, and quick-witted poster. I wish she was still around.

1794. Ulgine Barrows - 9/2/2006 6:23:29 AM

Yeah, remembering Khaval makes me grin!

Moonlight
You're just a heartache in disguise
Won't you keep my heart from breakin'
If it's only for a very short time

Honey, you know it makes you mad
Why is everybody tellin' everybody
What you have done
Baby, I know it makes you sad
But when they're handin' out the heartaches
You know you got to have you some

Playing with the queen of hearts
Knowin' it ain't really smart
The joker ain't the only fool
Who'll do anything for you
Laying out another lie
Thinkin' 'bout a life of crime
'Cos that's what I'll have to do
To keep me away from you

I don't know what happened to post 20250, Ulgine, but 20247 and 20248 were deleted.

Ah, Magoseph, you're not the first to erect a Cal shrine in the hopes she might come back here and thank you for defending her honour.

Honour in the English way, as if Cal would understand that.

Cal is more like honor, your hour is up.

Yes, this is totally bizarre, and so is your delete key.

Lordy, I love autumn and that snap! in the morning air!

Ah, Ulgine I’m so hurt that I grieve that you do not know better than this sentence above shows.
