18018. DanDillon - 1/1/2006 4:23:11 AM Happy news! Glad to see the old adage bear out: The more things change....
A second career could be great fun. Any inclination as to what you might do? Retired teachers are among the most adventerous types I know. 18019. Ronski - 1/1/2006 6:46:27 AM Happy 2006, everybody, from our lodge, to yours:
18020. judithathome - 1/1/2006 6:49:30 AM Happy New Year from our house, too...which doesn't look as great as Ronski's but what can you expect from Texas where it's supposed to be 81 degrees tomorrow! 18021. arkymalarky - 1/1/2006 7:00:32 AM Happy New Year!!! I love you all. And no, that's not the champagne talking. Unfortunately I was weak and drank all the champagne Judith and Keoni left this summer without saving any for tonight. 18022. arkymalarky - 1/1/2006 7:01:57 AM Absolutely gorgeous picture, Ronski. 18023. arkymalarky - 1/1/2006 7:13:10 AM Dan, I'm thinking about law school (who isn't?). I did well on my GMAT, so I have options, and I've gotten very politically involved in rural education over the last several years, so that's what I'd do with a law degree. We've gotten a lot of help from legal experts from a national group, but they're not very plentiful in AR--at least not on the poor rural folks' side. Unfortunately I haven't handled setbacks well, and we're in the middle of a few at the moment, so I've kind of soured on the idea for now. After I get to the point of being able to choose I'll revisit that idea, I'm sure.
Plan B is a singing career in the neo-punk movement. Or I could do both.
Retired teachers are among the most adventerous types I know.
True, as are those who don't wait for retirement! 18024. prolph - 1/1/2006 7:14:16 AM Thanks everyone who has posted on any thread so I could lurk.

18027. alistairConnor - 1/1/2006 2:37:21 PM Greetings, Yankeedoodle DanD! and happy fatherhood. Beckett, I get. Is Teague a playwright too?
Thanks for the escondidobugs, Patsy. Take your time and use it well.
Weird, dysfunctional weather. It's been very cold, with heavy snowfall on Friday, which turned to rain and washed most of the snow away by Saturday morning. This morning it was mild and sunny, we had breakfast on the terrace and now it's sleeting. 18028. TheWizardOfWhimsy - 1/1/2006 2:46:14 PM I'm about to go out and shovel seven inches of snow that didn't get rained out here in New England.
18029. thoughtful - 1/1/2006 4:46:59 PM Happiest new year wishes to one and all. 18030. TheWizardOfWhimsy - 1/1/2006 6:19:01 PM Thanks! Indeed, from east to west and west to east–may we all have a better, happier and healthier year in '06 and give this little blue paradise a break.
18031. DanDillon - 1/1/2006 6:43:07 PM alistair,
Teague is a name my wife and like. Why? Single syllable, typically a last name and it's Gaelic for "philospher, poet, wise man." We're hoping for a girl this time around, and we're still looking for good names. It needs to fit in style with her brothers', but it also needs to bear its own loveliness.
arky,
Hang in there. All will be well!
Happy new year, all.
18032. DanDillon - 1/1/2006 6:44:16 PM ... make that "my wife and I like." 18033. OhioSTOPAS - 1/1/2006 6:50:04 PM Happy New Year, fellow Moties! 18034. PelleNilsson - 1/1/2006 9:09:14 PM Happy New Year, everyone!
Tomorrow we're driving 600 km north-west for a bit of skiing and general relaxing in the highlands. 18035. Jenerator - 1/1/2006 10:58:34 PM Congratulations Dan!!!
Three kids, that's great.
18036. DanDillon - 1/2/2006 4:22:44 AM Thanks, Jen. So how're things with you? Do we find ourselves riding the same conjugal circumstance complete with progeny? A recent photo would be nice... 18037. judithathome - 1/2/2006 8:38:41 PM Our party was a huge success...about 30 people showed up and we finished off a case of champagne and bottle of Chambord.
