18965. wonkers2 - 3/22/2006 12:12:31 AM Well, yesterday my wife and I got home from five days of our son's Indian wedding in Houston. It was quite a memorable event or, more properly, a series of events beginning on Wednesday and ending with a brunch on Sunday. We were supplied with a several sets of Indian garb which we wore to a dance (for Marjoribanks a garba and ras) on Thursday, a pre-wedding ceremony on Friday and to the wedding on Saturday. When I get around to it I'll post some pictures. My remarks at the rehearsal dinner worked fine. My mention of our our trepidation about traveling to "Bush country" for the engagement party last year got some chuckles from the Indian-Americans and some cheers from the college crowd from Seattle and Berkeley. 18966. judithathome - 3/22/2006 12:27:33 AM Sounds great, Wonks! Wish you'd had time to swing by our fair city. However, this was not the weekend for it...we were flooded with about 10 inches of rain this weekend. 18967. arkymalarky - 3/22/2006 12:28:38 AM Congrats to your family, Wonk. Sounds like everything went well. I look forward to seeing your pictures. 18968. Macnas - 3/22/2006 9:22:44 AM Mote back up, and all is well. 18969. thoughtful - 3/22/2006 2:28:22 PM wonks that sounds terrific. Look forward to the pics when you get a chance. 18970. alistairconnor - 3/22/2006 2:31:07 PM And surely you have greatly improved your knowledge of cricket over the weekend, Wonk? 18971. wonkers2 - 3/22/2006 3:22:19 PM No cricket. But I had a lot of Indian food and folk dancing. 18972. TheWizardOfWhimsy - 3/22/2006 3:58:06 PM Welcome back, wonk. Should we now consider you a Sanyasan? 18973. wonkers2 - 3/22/2006 6:39:34 PM Nobody mentioned Sanyasan. My in-laws are Jains which is an offshoot of Hinduism. I checked Wikipedia, but there was no entry for Sanyasan. ?? 18974. TheWizardOfWhimsy - 3/22/2006 7:02:57 PM Sanyasan/Sannyasin
Etymology:Hindi sannyAsI, from Sanskrit sannyAsin: a Hindu mendicant ascetic 18975. wonkers2 - 3/22/2006 7:29:46 PM After paying for the rehearsal dinner, I definitely qualify as a mendicant. 18976. TheWizardOfWhimsy - 3/22/2006 8:03:22 PM Hah–well I'm sure you'll eventually be rewarded with gleaming-eyed grandchildren. Every good wish to you and Mrs. Wonk(–another very handsome woman, btw). 18977. wonkers2 - 3/22/2006 8:21:43 PM Thanks! 18978. Magoseph - 3/22/2006 10:05:48 PM Was this wedding your last one, Wonk? I mean, are you kids all married now 18979. wonkers2 - 3/22/2006 10:28:53 PM No, it was our first one. One down and two to go. He was the youngest. My daughter who is 31 is preoccupied with her career and hasn't met "Mr. Right." My oldest son is 34, and he has no marriage plans at the moment. He came very close a couple of years ago, but they called it off three days before the wedding. 18980. Magoseph - 3/23/2006 2:30:07 PM Well, Wonk, we may have two more wedding pictures to enjoy. There'll be another wedding for us and not too far away the way the romance looks at this moment. We're urging caution, although this time it looks just the right move, unlike the first one.
Hello, Mac, Ali, and everyone.
We are very busy re-educating Flexy’s muscles these days, going out, painfully and excruciatingly up down the hills, three times a day. It won't take long with since we don’t have to deal with bad weather and we have Flexy's determination to be as nimble as he was before his accident eleven weeks past.
18981. judithathome - 3/23/2006 11:13:42 PM Oh wow, Magos....we'll have to have brunch together again! 18982. thoughtful - 3/23/2006 11:41:50 PM Wow!!!
