TheWizardOfWhimsy - 3/27/2006 5:41:03 PM 19020. judithathome - 3/27/2006 6:53:37 PM That's exactly how I feel! 19021. judithathome - 3/27/2006 7:00:58 PM And I'm stuck here listening to the FIVE wood chopper trucks this jerk has hired to clear the acre lot behind me of all trees...yes, my garden room view will now be devoid of the 75 year old oaks, elms, and the younger fruit treesthat formerly graced it. All because the man who owns the property is rich and wants to build a compound of three homes there for his three children...he lives in the ranch across the road from this lot that abuts my property.
So after the demolition of these beautiful trees, I will be subjected to the sounds of construction as the houses go up. And I'm sure they will plant wimpy little saplings to replace the stately old things they slaughtered today.
Maybe my property values will go up after he builds these dumb homes there...whoopee. 19022. wonkers2 - 3/27/2006 7:36:40 PM Too bad. OUr town has restrictions on cutting trees on private property. 19023. thoughtful - 3/27/2006 7:49:55 PM That is dumb on his part...the houses would be more valuable if surrounded by some mature trees and plantings.
The only good news is, at least they build houses faster than they used to so the noise won't go on for as long.
We've been living with construction noise for years as the neighbor is putting in 21 homes at the rate of 2-3 a year. I think at this point he has 5 lots left and he's building one now.
It's also changed the wildlife in our neighborhood as the woodland birds have all but disappeared (haven't seen my red-breasted nut hatch in years) and the field birds have reappeared, including a blue bird. 19024. arkymalarky - 3/28/2006 3:31:35 AM Congrats on enjoying an evening out Judith!
I hate it about the trees. The whole feeling without them is different. I'm still not used to Arkadelphia since the tornado took out so many huge old trees there.
We're much more bare here, too. The pines have been greatly thinned and Bob had a bunch of them cut behind the house. He loves it, and it is nice and open, but it's very different. He didn't cut them all, and we've got magnolia and other saplings planted and we're going to plant more back there. 19025. Do you happen to remember which ones. Wonks?

I am wondering at your birds
Birds have never been in any art you posted before. Just wondering.
19034. Ms. No - 3/30/2006 5:04:07 PM G'morning - anybody here? 19035. wonkers2 - 3/30/2006 5:07:22 PM G'day Ms. No, as the Aussie's say. 19036. Ms. No - 3/30/2006 5:11:29 PM About now I believe they're saying late afternoon....of tomorrow. It's what, an 18 hour difference? 19037. Magoseph - 3/30/2006 6:34:21 PM I just came back from a visit to a friend's daughter place that has ten alpacas. I’m going back when her second adopted baby arrives from abroad. Butch apparently missed me because he almost knocked me over when I opened the door, smooching up to my face. 19038. Ms. No - 3/30/2006 6:41:54 PM Isn't that the best? If you're ever feeling low and unappreciated, leave the house for twenty minutes. When you come back, your dog will great you as if you've been gone for days.
This will work as many times as you need it to.
