19133. OhioSTOPAS - 4/11/2006 10:59:00 AM Good morning everybody! Back from Florida (Great week; the only negative was that traffic was a bitch on Route 75!). Thank you all for the good wishes.
Judith, hope your leg continues to get better.
Jex, is April 8 your birthday? Mine too!! Happy birthday to us!!! 19134. Magoseph - 4/11/2006 10:44:26 PM Glad you had a good time, Ohio.
Flexy's eye surgery today canceled, postponed until May 18--Hard day, see you tomorrow. 19135. judithathome - 4/12/2006 1:30:09 AM Hope everything is okay, Magos! 19136. arkymalarky - 4/12/2006 5:22:59 AM I hope they didn't find a problem, Mags, and I hope you're able to fill us in later.
I just got settled in after being in class over 3 hours--one tomorrow night, too--and had to Mote a little before bed--better than a toddy.
Hey OHIO!!!! Happy birthday! Hope it was a great one. 19137. Magoseph - 4/12/2006 9:45:21 AM Arky, Judith, thank you for your good wishes--- Flexy did not feel well enough, the surgeon said. He must rest and he will be checked May 10 and if everything is all right, the removal of the cataracts will proceed in two-steps, starting May 18.
Hi, Mac!
19138. Macnas - 4/12/2006 9:52:21 AM Hello Mago.
Lucky Flexy, to have you there as the first thing he see's when the scales are removed from his eyes. 19139. SnowOwl - 4/13/2006 9:12:46 AM Belated birthday wishes to Jexter and Ohio.
Sorry to hear about Flexy's surgery being cancelled, Mago. I hope all goes well for him when the next surgery is scheduled.
19140. Jenerator - 4/13/2006 10:52:56 PM Is WX down? 19141. judithathome - 4/14/2006 12:05:30 AM It is for me... 19142. Jenerator - 4/14/2006 4:41:20 PM Ohio - mine is on the 8th as well.
The three of us should have a party.
;-) 19143. Magoseph - 4/15/2006 7:48:20 AM Lucky Flexy, to have you there as the first thing he see's when the scales are removed from his eyes.
You’re very kind, Mac, but you know, not everyone we know would agree with you. Nothing will convince some people that I married him because I love him. It’s more convenient (or more fun) for them to believe that, eleven years ago, I came back to him with nefarious plans for his demise.
19144. Magoseph - 4/15/2006 7:48:57 AM Snow, thank you for wishing the best for Flexy--I read that you’re taking a big trip again and could be in the US. Am I correct?
Another question, did I ever discuss with you Ian McEwan’s Atonement?
19145. anomie - 4/15/2006 11:40:57 AM Good book, Mago? I read Amsterdam years ago. I think it was his first one or maybe won the Booker prize. 19146. anomie - 4/15/2006 11:41:56 AM Belated Happy Birthdays. In the words of Yahoo, may this event, "repeat every year". 19147. anomie - 4/15/2006 11:48:09 AM I thought I should post an update on the assignment to Italy since I discussed it here about 4 weeks ago. I haven't heard anything, and it has been a month since the first referral, so I'm assuming I didn't get it, which is fine because I had all but decided to decline the offer anyway. I could still get the call, but it's not likely at this point.
The good news is that I should be settled in Vegas by the end of the year, so anyone who had planned to stop by in Italy is welcome to detour to the west a wee bit. 19148. judithathome - 4/15/2006 6:40:41 PM As everyone knows, Keoni and I have a rather love/hate relationship with sharing the same computer. But I do bow to him in matters of hardware and the printer because I know nothing about that crap.
In January, we bought an H/P printer/scanner and got a great deal on it and it has worked perfectly since day one. When we got it, we noticed there weren't any replacement ink cartridges on the shelves (got it at CostCo) and I was rather appalled at what those things cost and worried the ones we needed had been phased out...he says no, they were just "popular" and sold out at the time.
Also told me not worry because he could get an ink kit and refill the one that was in there.
So here we are this week, out of ink. He orders the kit online and in anticipation, removes the cartridge. There it was, sitting on the low shelf next to the printer. Three days later, kit arrives and last night he gets ready to refill it. Suddenly, I hear all this frantic scrambling in the printer area and he says...did you see those two cartridges I had over here by the printer? I say I saw ONE...did he not just take one out? NO... he took two and now one is missing...am I SURE I didn't see it?
Now he is saying this perfectly calmly but I am receiving it it as: it was here and now it's not and you are the one here all the time and did you toss it into the trashcan sitting next to the desk and which I just emptied yesterday?
Normally I would get a little miffed and snap back and we would soon be steaming at one another but I decided to remain calm and detatched...I rarely print anything, anyhow...and I suggested it might still be in the printer. Well, he is getting huffy and says it is definitely NOT in the printer and he starts yanking things out of the desk and muttering to himself and is getting very bent out of shape.
I try to ignore it and let him stew, then I suggest again it might stll be in there...to which he snarls it is not because that was where he first looked.
So he takes the black ink cartridge and goes off and refills it and comes back and starts to insert it....I hear this very low and vicious "son of a BITCH" and I ask if he can't get the thing back it, what's going on, what did you say that for? knowing full well that he had just found the other cartridge in the printer....which he had.
Later, we were in bed and I casually asked him if seriously, hadn't he thought I'd tossed that thing into the trash and he SWORE he hadn't thought that at all and we started laughing and it built into side-holding howling....and I think this is maybe how we should always have disagreements or spats or whatever they are in the future.
19149. anomie - 4/15/2006 9:32:37 PM Now you see, Judith, if I had had a perfect wife like you I'd still be married. Too bad all the perfect women are taken. 19150. arkymalarky - 4/16/2006 12:01:08 AM Great story, Judith! 19151. arkymalarky - 4/16/2006 12:31:40 AM Went to bed around midnight, to sleep about 2am, left at 6:30, drove an hour and a half, attended a three hour meeting, drove two hours, visited inlaws for Easter (houseful from ages 2 to 75), and am not moving another speck until Easter morning church with Mose--which doesn't start until 11am.
I have two huge tests this week, have to finish two huge papers, do other assignments, catch up on my real job, and after about May 5, I will be chilling with all of that in my rearview mirror.
Hope you enjoy the move (back?) to Vegas, Anomie. 19152. Ulgine Barrows - 4/16/2006 9:52:09 AM I went for counseling years ago when my dad died. i think I got a horrid person.
I spilled my guts and then I went back the next week, and this counselor person looked up from her notebook and asked me what my problem was.
I watched a movie in the middle of the day
Kinda fun!
