My fiance is a black belt in Karate. She studies aikido.
One of the things keeping me out of martial arts is the mock discipline and formality with respect for sensei. I'm not really into all the yelling. Got enough of that in boy scouts.

We're definitely more self-defense oriented than sport. There's an international dojo list here: Authentic Ninjutsu around the world. Use the menu item 2nd from the right on top.
