In the last ten years or so I've gained about 25lbs, and mine doesn't sit nearly as well on me as hers (and other women who are heavier but work on health and fitness) does on her. I'm hoping to lose mine, but gaining it was a lot harder than losing it. My first priority is to get healthier, but that's hard in the face of old, pre-weight-gain habits.

Gaining it was a lot EASIER

This morning doing errands was a nightmare—frozen slush everywhere, big SUVs and snowplows hogging the roads, no parking near the post office and the food store’s parking lot was horrible to manage.

We have such a tenuous situation here at home, were I to have a fall or have a car accident. I became so nervous thinking of all the arrangements that I’d have to make if something happened to me that, once home, I was so giddy with relief that Flexy thought that I had a drink somewhere. I wish!

That's coming our way...tomorrow will sure be messy around here. So long as it clears out by thurs am as I have a flight to take.

Also thurs is the day mother goes for her needle biopsy...hubby will get her there and back. Hopefully all will go ok...fingers and toes and eyes crossed.

We'll be thinking about you and yours. Hope you have a good flight, as well.

We've only had one nice, pretty, small snow that didn't affect driving at all. I was out of school, but for a flu outbreak (I didn't get it--at least not yet).

21152. thoughtful - 2/14/2007 12:33:37 AM

thanks.

hard to believe but this will be our first major snowstorm...if it is a snowstorm and not a change to rain and get messy storm...all winter.

And I remember the year of 22 storms, the last one being in April when we got over 12".

Happy valentine's day to one and all.

Every day is a great day for love.

Fortunate are those who move into old age with the true and lasting love of their life!

I sent you an email a minute or two ago--tell me if you can read it, please.

Keoni really has great timing...just as I went out to start my car to warm it up and discovered my battery was dead (due to him not closing the door on Friday night!) he pulled in with 26 long stemmed roses (it's our 26th wedding anniversary), some Dove dark chocolate, and a lavender cedarwood candle.

He started the car with jumper cables and begged me once again to forget his colonoscopy on Friday and then went back to work.

We're having take-out tonight and a good bottle of Margaux that was my Christmas present from Jamie, our friend. It's way too cold and we don't like going out on Valentine's Day because there are so many people who do...we'd rather be cozy at home.

It is SNOWING here! Not sticking but at least it's beautiful falling from the sky.

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY JUDITH AND KEONI!!

And Happy Valentine's Day to everyone else! It's not a teacher's most favorite holiday, I must say. At least I'm not an elementary teacher.

People at my school are so cute. One of the junior high boys bought his girlfriend some very anemic-looking red roses with some drooping lavendar chrysanthemums (I can't imagine where he bought flowers in such a condition). He had them in a too-large vase of his mom's, tied (knotted) with a red ribbon and a little heart-shaped pink pillow. Two teachers fixed it up for him and got another vase and it was very attractive (kind of like the Charlie Brown Christmas tree) by the time he needed it at the end of the day.

Aww, how sweet!

Hello all you lovers.

21165. Magoseph - 2/15/2007 4:05:45 PM

Hello, Mac! How are things with you these days?

21166. wonkers2 - 2/15/2007 5:57:36 PM

Here's a Valentine's poem from the Cap'n to all the lovely ladies of the Mote: "Poema XX" by Pablo Neruda
