22012. Ulgine Barrows - 6/16/2007 10:38:38 AM

heh. I wasn't around, or I'd have raced you, larky.

22000. arkymalarky - 6/14/2007 6:42:06 AM

too

22013. arkymalarky - 6/18/2007 6:54:46 AM

I love the Green Day version, but I don't know about the rest. I'd have never looked to hear any but Lennon's, but happening to hear it, I loved it, though covers are such a mixed bag in general. I usually am prepared not to like them. I'm don't like any Manson covers I've heard. But what little of him I have heard, covers or not, was deadly dull.

22014. arkymalarky - 6/18/2007 6:55:41 AM

Hey Ulgine! I was winding down from a late (but EXTREMELY productive) meeting that night.

22015. arkymalarky - 6/18/2007 7:05:09 AM

OKAY: I had the BEST time with Judith and Keoni. No surprise there, but it was the first relaxing get-away I've had in a long time, and it was all wonderful. Their house and yard were fantastic and Harley was a blast. The play was very funny, the dinner afterward with their friends and Judith's son was relaxing and fun, and our shopping today was fun and productive. I've been a jeans/t-shirt person for months now (I've been one for years, but this has become a daily uniform), and I got several things, mostly blouses, that I love. I have needed a weekend like that for a while now, and they have been SO gracious! How gracious, you may ask?

Well, first, never go Amtrak. For any reason. Never. My train Friday was supposed to leave at 4:20AM. It left at about 3:00PM. So they had to come get me at the Ft. Worth station at around 10:30PM. Today it was supposed to leave Ft. Worth at 2:30PM. When we left to meet Bob half-way to my house at Sulfur Springs, it still hadn't arrived when I called out of curiosity. When we left after dinner at Sulfer Springs and I called after 9:30PM, it still hadn't gotten to Ft. Worth.

Thanks for letting us know you got home Judith. I'd have called you, but it was almost 12:30. You two are rare gems!

So glad you guys had a nice time.

Happy Anniversary to us
Happy Anniversary to us
Happy Anniversary dear Tful and hubby
Happy Anniversary to us.

29 years and still counting.

I offer up 2 secrets to our success:

1. Whenever anything goes wrong, don't blame each other...blame the cat.

2. Don't ever split up. If you do, that means one of you will get stuck with the cat!

22017. judithathome - 6/18/2007 3:23:28 PM

Ha! A cat full of resentment at being blamed for everything for 29 years!

Happy anniversary!

22018. judithathome - 6/18/2007 3:26:10 PM

Arky, not problem at all...I figured you knew we were sure you'd arrived intact.

Speaking of which, have found nothing you left behind so that's probably a relief...ha!

We sooooo enjoyed your company this weekend and it was great to see Bob so I'm actually thinking the train did us a favor. Did he like his gift?

What a great weekend!

As for Amtrack, sounds like you'd get there faster on Greyhound even with the longer scheduled trip time. When I rode them they seemed to be on schedule, but this was 20 years ago so I have no idea what they're like now.

22020. Ms. No - 6/18/2007 4:52:02 PM

Congratulations Thoughtfuls!

22021. arkymalarky - 6/18/2007 11:59:05 PM

CONGRATULATIONS TO THE THOUGHTFULS!!! And many more happy years together!

22022. arkymalarky - 6/18/2007 11:59:57 PM

You'd get there faster on the back of a greyhound dog.

22023. arkymalarky - 6/19/2007 12:01:50 AM

Thanks Judith! Bob and I talked on the way home about how fun that dinner was. He had a good time all around.

And he LOVES his GPS.He's spent hours playing with it and reading the manual (he's one of those "manual readers" who can actually use all the features on any device he buys).

22024. judithathome - 6/19/2007 12:18:13 AM

(((envious)))

22025. arkymalarky - 6/19/2007 12:53:00 AM

Yeah, me too.

So, we're doing a segment on the local Public Radio station this Thursday to promote the play. I have no idea what all will be involved but I think we're doing a scene or part of one although I haven't yet been told what it is.

Anyway, it can be heard online here: Insight on Capital Public Radio. This Thursday from 2-3 PST it'll stream live, but we're not the only segment on the show. I think they do three per show and I've no idea what order we'll fall in.

And yes, before anyone gets alarmed I'm aware that they'll probably put my whole name out there, but I figure most everyone here already knows it and if any of you reallly wanted to kill me I'd've been dead years ago. ;->

22027. Ms. No - 6/19/2007 4:38:18 AM

It occurs to me that I'm a bit premature with all of this but I'm kind of amped up over the whole thing. The next thought that runs through my head is "What if we get panned?"

And then I think about the show and how good everyone is and I figure the play might not be to somebody's taste, but we probably don't have to worry about sucking rocks as performers. It's a really great cast.

I do know that the reviewer for the Sacramento Bee (the main newspaper here) absolutely loathes Neil LaBute as a playwright so I'm hoping he can either overcome that and be objective or that he'll send somebody else to review us in his place, but whatever happens happens. I'm not intending to read any reviews at all until we're done. It would freak me out.

22028. judithathome - 6/19/2007 4:44:13 AM

That's a good idea...my friend who's a director advises the actors in his charge not to read the reviews for at least a week after it comes out. He reads them right off, of course, and if he agrees with something the reviewer said about a particular actor, he will try to correct it but if he disagrees, it's hard for him to keep quiet about the review.

Just keep in mind, it's only one man's opinion...and I think if the reviewer has been around a long time, the readership knows his quirks and preferences.

22029. Ms. No - 6/19/2007 5:19:45 AM

Yeah, I figure it's the director's worry. I don't want to see anything bad OR good that might affect my performance --- it's the director's vision that I have to adhere to and she'll tell me what she wants.

Not that I don't hope for good reviews, of course!

22030. thoughtful - 6/19/2007 1:46:43 PM

Thanks guys for the well wishes.

So cool about the play and being on radio. I'm sure you'll do just great. Break a leg!

22031. Ms. No - 6/19/2007 3:31:08 PM

Thanks, T'ful!
