24632. iiibbb - 11/5/2008 12:17:12 AM TALKING CLOCK
After closing time at the bar, a drunk was proudly showing off his new apartment to a couple of his friends. He led the way to his bedroom where there was a big brass gong and a mallet.
'What's that big brass gong?' one of the guests asked.
'It's not a gong. It's a talking clock,' the drunk replied.
'A talking clock? Seriously?' asked his astonished friend.
'Yup,' replied the drunk.
'How's it work?' the friend asked, squinting at it.
'Watch,' the drunk replied.
He picked up the mallet, gave the gong an ear-shattering pound and stepped back.
The three stood looking at one another for a moment.......
Suddenly, someone on the other side of the wall screamed,
'You asshole! It's three-fifteen in the morning!' 24633. judithathome - 11/5/2008 4:37:39 PM Arky, I want you to call your dad and thank him for me. As we watched Obama's acceptence speech last night, I turned to Keoni and said "I need to thank Arky's dad...he was the first one I paid attention to in his endorsement of Obama...when Arky said her dad was impressed after reading his books, I started to take Obama more seriously as a candidate." 24634. anomie - 11/5/2008 8:55:48 PM After reading Arky's dad's book, I can completely understand his support for Obama. Seemed to me he's a very perceptive, fair-minded and brilliant man, and would see the potential in someone like Obama. 24635. arkymalarky - 11/5/2008 10:43:50 PM Wow, thanks, y'all! I will definitely pass your words on to Dad! He was a Hillary man before I convinced him to go for Obama. 24636. arkymalarky - 11/6/2008 2:59:59 AM Don't know where to put this, but gas is under $2 a gallon in Hot Springs. 24637. iiibbb - 11/7/2008 2:27:54 AM I thought I might be visiting Hot Springs in a couple of weeks. I'm not entirely sure at present. 24638. arkymalarky - 11/7/2008 2:48:54 AM Cool! Let me know if you do or email me at amalarky@yahoo.com 24639. wonkers2 - 11/7/2008 4:01:00 AM Obama's acceptance speech was incredibly good. He is brilliant and has a great temperament. 24640. Ulgine Barrows - 11/8/2008 1:12:53 PM Hello! Goodbye!
Nice to know you're all still alive, weird as that may sound. 24641. judithathome - 11/8/2008 6:05:26 PM Doesn't sound weird at all...howzit, Ulgine? Hope you stick around...I'm still correcting my typos so you'll have plenty of chuckles! 24642. Ms. No - 11/9/2008 3:07:45 AM Good to see you Ulgine!! 24643. iiibbb - 11/11/2008 1:19:01 AM Arky---
I'm probably not going to make it to Hot Springs. There is something on the table, and unless I can clear it off of there this week I can't make the time next week for the meeting. 24644. arkymalarky - 11/11/2008 1:30:47 AM Oh, man! I'm in Hot Springs in a great Mexican restaurant as I type! You ought to drive down just to fill up your car. It's $1.83 a gallon. 24645. arkymalarky - 11/11/2008 1:34:14 AM I'm getting my car back today, thank goodness. Now if I can just get through deer season without hitting another one. 24646. arkymalarky - 11/11/2008 6:05:36 AM Ok. Just saw on CNN gas avg is 1.87. With a Kroger card in Hot Springs I paid 1.76. But where I shop--not the tiny town where I teach--it's 2.04. I don't get it. It's only 30 miles from Hot Springs. I thoight Hot Springs was way cheaper, but instead we're paying way more. 24647. Ms. No - 11/11/2008 7:18:55 AM We haven't had gas under $2 in over three years. 24648. iiibbb - 11/11/2008 3:05:43 PM We pay 1.80 at Kroger here.
The economy is a weird thing. 24649. thoughtful - 11/11/2008 3:47:47 PM gas in our area is $2.39-$2.59 24650. arkymalarky - 11/11/2008 3:51:16 PM What gets me is the huge diference in towns 30 miles apart. 24651. judithathome - 11/11/2008 7:34:39 PM Yesterday I filled up at CostCo at $1.86 for regular....thank you, Hyundai of Hot Springs!!...and at QuikTrip near my house, it's only a dime more.
