26227. judithathome - 12/31/2010 9:34:28 PM Happy New Year, y'all...and Hauoli Makahiki Hou! 26228. arkymalarky - 12/31/2010 9:35:05 PM Speaking of New Years Eve and parties, I was trying to remember when we crossed that age threshold from hoping we got a NYE invitation to hoping we didn't. I know I've told this before, but I think it was the year I saw a friend of ours in Walmart and sarcastically joked about our big NYE party we were having, then on the night of NYE a week or two later, Bob and I were watching tv, struggling to stay awake until midnight, when we were startled by a knock on the door. So our friend and his wife shared a deadly dull NYE with us, and to this day I don't know if he realized later that I was joking in Walmart or figured we had a flop of a party. *I* certainly never said anything! 26229. judithathome - 12/31/2010 9:59:31 PM Ya know, we haven't been out on NYE in years and I tell you what, if I lived where you do, I'd stay home regardless...those roads are scary during the DAY! God knows what they're like at night, in January, after a boozy all-night party! 26230. judithathome - 12/31/2010 10:00:41 PM I prefer my boozy, all-night parties safely at your house...ha! 26231. Ms. No - 12/31/2010 10:41:12 PM Hells to the yes on that one! Nothing like a boozy all-night party at the Arky's!
I made dinner plans with a friend for his belated birthday without even realizing I'd scheduled it for NYE. I'm sure we'll have a laugh over what a couple of losers we are since he didn't realize it either.
As the return to school approaches I'm wishing I had another entire week off!
Happy, happy to you all! Hope you start your 2011 safe and well! 26232. arkymalarky - 12/31/2010 11:54:32 PM Haha! I agree 100%! 26233. arkymalarky - 12/31/2010 11:55:29 PM I was referring to boozy all night parties at my house, but that also applies to wishing for another week of break! 26234. anomie - 1/1/2011 1:38:50 AM Happy New Year Motie folks. And glad to see Arky is okay after seeing the weather news today.
Here's to a great elevenses. 26235. arkymalarky - 1/1/2011 3:36:32 AM Anomie! Happy New Year to you! All that was north of us. You oughta open up your calendar and make an Arky all nighter with us at our next gathering. We're having it earlier this year. 26236. anomie - 1/1/2011 4:04:32 AM Hey Arky, can you email me the details? Judith has my email if you don't,and I don't seem to have yours anymore or I would send it. I need an excuse to visit a brother in OK. Don't know if I can stay up all night. It's been a while. But it would be fun to try. 26237. arkymalarky - 1/1/2011 4:58:33 AM Oooh, Absolutely! I'll get it from her tomorrow or you can email me at cmoon.rise@gmail.com. 26238. wabbit - 1/1/2011 10:50:25 PM Happy New Year, everyone!
I've long considered NYE amateur night and haven't gone out in ages. I've gone to the homes of nearby friends, or they've come to my house, but no nightclubs or big shindigs since longer than I care to remember.
iiibbb, that's great news about B's tubes! I'm hoping for the best for your wife. 26239. iiibbb - 1/5/2011 2:00:22 PM ugh... wife was in a fender bender last night with the baby. Brain fart, pulled out of a parking lot right into someone. Everyone was fine, but geez.
Granted it shook her up, but I'm finding I am not sure what to do about my wife's tendency to fixate on the negative. It is inconvenient sure, but everyone is okay, and I can drive her around until the car gets fixed... but she is totally fixated on how much that "sucks" and that we don't have any money. Well... it is what it is. Adjust and move on.
She does it with other stresses as well...
I think it's because we've had to deal with a lot this year because I don't remember her being like this all the time. It bothers me because the sentiment bleeds into things it shouldn't and because she's unwilling to make certain adjustments because they're difficult (i.e she cut down her work hours to spend time with the baby, but she complains that we have no money, but we buy organic food and other "luxuries"). 26240. judithathome - 1/7/2011 7:15:41 PM Maybe her hormones are out of whack...that can really mess a person up mentally. It's why so many women go off the rails when menopause happens. Not that she's anywhere NEAR that but sometimes, after the baby comes, it takes awhile for hormones to regulate. 26241. arkymalarky - 1/7/2011 8:26:03 PM Stress over her test results can't help.
My hormones finally got normal when I got a hysterectomy. Before that they were always crazy. Lots of women are the opposite. 26242. arkymalarky - 1/7/2011 8:26:43 PM Opposite of me, that is. 26243. arkymalarky - 1/10/2011 5:15:50 AM no school tomorrow and probably not tues. We got 6" with a layer of ice in the middle. Electricity's out, but unlike years ago, we have cellsz with data plans. What'd y'all get, Judith? 26244. arkymalarky - 1/10/2011 5:41:54 AM Electricity's back, and life is good! 26245. Ms. No - 1/10/2011 7:24:11 AM Yeah, my mom was telling me that they were expecting snow, but I don't know if they actually got any.
We had sun today and even though it was still cold as hell, it seemed warmer. I was missing the sunlight something fierce! 26246. judithathome - 1/10/2011 7:13:45 PM We had snow for about two hours yesterday but it didn't stick because it had rained earler. It's 31° right now and may be icy out but you couldn't prove it by me...I'm staying in.
