27284. robertjayb - 5/1/2013 7:58:21 PM Well, well. Made in past noon without spouse's annual chant: "Hooray hooray, the first of May. Outdoor intercourse starts today." Good. 27285. Ms. No - 5/2/2013 7:22:08 AM Damn. I totally forgot about that. 27286. thoughtful - 5/2/2013 12:33:50 PM RJB, you're a little late...the geese have been at it for awhile and I saw a pair go by with 7 of the cutest little goslings.... 27287. robertjayb - 5/2/2013 4:00:56 PM Sure enough, at about 9:30 last night she came out with it. Brrrr. Seems an odd phrase to be adopted by a Wisconsinite.
Here in Texas I've always heard that sort of thing is best accomplished on a warmish summer night with at least a bit of moonlight. That's what I've been told 27288. arkymalarky - 5/4/2013 9:13:37 PM happy birthday Judith! 27289. arkymalarky - 5/5/2013 2:38:40 AM happy birthday Judith! 27290. judithathome - 5/5/2013 7:34:27 AM Thanks you! Thanks you! 27291. thoughtful - 5/6/2013 3:57:38 PM Oh Happy Belated Bday! Hope it was just fine! 27292. judithathome - 5/8/2013 5:16:07 AM MsNo, if you are checking in here while in Hawaii, which I seriously doubt you are...someone who found your phone called me on it yesterday. 27293. wabbit - 5/8/2013 4:58:33 PM Belated Happy Birthday, JaH! 27294. thoughtful - 5/13/2013 2:17:27 PM So sad...we had to put our dear cat Casimir down yesterday. Such a hard thing to do. He was hyperthyroid and was suffering with kidney failure. He was on that downward slope and we wanted to minimize his suffering....but it only increases ours. 27295. arkymalarky - 5/13/2013 2:52:54 PM I'm so sorry Thoughtful! 27296. judithathome - 5/13/2013 5:40:21 PM So sad to hear it, Thoughtful. You did the right thing but understandable that it is so hard to think so right now.... 27297. thoughtful - 5/14/2013 1:01:10 PM Thanks guys, it really sucks. We miss him terribly.
However, now that our troubled kitty is gone, we can finally get to take our river cruise down the Danube. We've been wanting to do this for years and couldn't travel because of the cat. We'll be going in July. The universe is playing with me though as the only day I had booked was the day of the wedding to see the bride walk down the aisle in the veil I made for her. That is also the ONLY day that the ONLY cabin was available on any of the cruises all this year ....so now I'll miss the wedding!
Anyway, not sure where to post this, but I'm wondering about technology in Europe. I know my current cell phone won't work and wondering if this would be a good excuse to upgrade...not that we'll be traveling internationally a lot, but it's been years since I've gotten a new phone. Also wondering if I get an Iphone if that will work or if I should bring the ipad and if that will work internationally. Also have to think about charging stations/adapters....
Any and all advice would be most welcome! 27298. robertjayb - 5/14/2013 1:48:44 PM Sounds like a job for Alistair. 27299. wabbit - 5/14/2013 3:16:26 PM T'ful, I am so sorry to hear about Casimir. Knowing that you've done the right thing doesn't make it any easier.
Rick Steves has some advice about cell phones in Europe. Enjoy your trip! 27300. thoughtful - 5/15/2013 12:30:29 AM Thanks, wabbit...
That article was very helpful!
I'll have to check on the ipad or whether I want to get an iphone instead of my blackberry. I would love to have connectivity so I can use google translate...it's a fabulous thing, esp if we are traveling to 5 different countries...Germany Austria, Czech, Slovakia and Hungary.... 27301. judithathome - 5/15/2013 4:22:43 AM Gads, that trip sounds like a dream vacation! Bon Voyage! 27302. iiibbb - 5/15/2013 7:02:02 PM A friend of mine has a startup.... it is a neat idea.... too bad I don't drink coffee. 27303. judithathome - 5/15/2013 8:44:31 PM Neat idea...however, I'm not too sure about the cozies...too much staining from drips. I really don't see the point of having them. Most people who use a French Press drink the coffee before it has a chance to cool.
But good luck to your friend! French Press coffee is the BEST!
