When John Travolta called Idina Menzel "Adele Dazeem" at the Oscars, he created a new standard for superstardom: You're no one until you've had your name mangled by a confused, squinting John Travolta. What's your Travoltified name? Find out with our handy widget!
My Travoltified name is "Abigail Crarter"27888. wabbit - 3/7/2014 2:27:34 AM LOL! I am "Maisie Mazzooon". 27889. Iiibbb - 3/12/2014 4:20:00 AM A vent.
My wife puts unreasonable demands on my work. She wants me to get a permanent position, but if I need to travel more than one night she makes a stink. I am going to miss most of an important meeting because I tried to hold off leaving until tomorrow and my flight got cancelled for weather. A reasonable professional would have arrived the night before. Oh well 27890. Trillium - 3/12/2014 7:56:50 PM iiibbb, that's the kind of thing that (good) marriage counselors (sometimes) can help with... you can build up steam over time, when you get torn like that.
My aggravations have been different, but in essence it's the same -- being asked to aim for a particular goal, while other family members would drag back when it came to the details.
A marriage counselor told me that her goal is to teach couples and families to "fight fair". It's an art. 27891. thoughtful - 3/20/2014 3:06:41 PM Some of you may remember me talking about my estranged nephew. I just learned last night that he passed away last Friday at the age of 33. They just said "peacefully in his sleep" but I suspect suicide. So upsetting. He was so young, married less than 2 years.
For the first time since Mom passed away, I'm glad she's gone. Her heart was so broken losing both her husband and son to suicide...as big a heart as she had, she've never been able to cope with the loss of her only grandchild too...
Sometimes you just have to wonder why the world has to be full of so much pain and suffering... 27892. arkymalarky - 3/20/2014 3:21:19 PM Oh my Thoughtful. I'm so sorry. 27893. thoughtful - 3/21/2014 12:19:50 AM Thanks, arky. 27894. So thanks, J@H. 27900. judithathome - 3/21/2014 11:54:09 PM Well...I just wanted to let you know that the feelings are out there. I know that at times, I felt almost as though there was pressure to acknowledge everyone's pain FOR me...I may not be explaining this correctly...sorry. 27901. judithathome - 3/30/2014 12:31:28 AM Hey! I just talked to Frankster!
Decided to see if his old phone # still worked and...it DOES.
He is doing fine and sends his hellos to everyone...he's nursing an injured knee but coming along on the road to recovery.
Arky, he said he'd do his best to join us for the Gathering this spring...depends on the rate of recovery with the knee. 27902. arkymalarky - 3/30/2014 6:57:12 AM Aaaaaaawwwwww! Yay! Crossing all my fingers and toes! I thought about him just yesterday! I have a cousin who Frank reminds me of who I was asking Mom about. 27903. wabbit - 3/30/2014 3:41:22 PM Frank!
Speaking of knees, I just saw a tv commercial about partial knee replacement. I'm paraphrasing here, but the idea was that standard knee replacement removes all of the surface of the knee, while this particular partial knee replacement lets you keep up to 75% of your "healthy" knee.
My question is, if you have a healthy knee, why are you having this surgery?
It's me, right? 27904. Ms. No - 3/30/2014 7:15:15 PM Nope, not you. That just sounds dopey.
Or, my inner cynic says, it sounds like a way to make money off of people who really don't need surgery but are afraid some day they will so they'll have it now because it sounds like a better solution.
