28017. arkymalarky - 6/13/2014 6:41:30 PM Same here! Stan just retired, so he's great. How's your daughter doing? Mine is a school librarian and happily married to a great guy who's working on a PhD in nanotech. No grandkids yet. 28018. arkymalarky - 6/13/2014 6:43:07 PM I miss how we used to compare notes with her two girls. I think Moses was 13 when I started posting here. She'll be 30 her next birthday. 28019. arkymalarky - 6/13/2014 6:43:19 PM Our... 28020. arkymalarky - 6/13/2014 6:55:27 PM Your younger daughter must be on up in high school? 28021. judithathome - 6/13/2014 9:14:06 PM Hey, Diva...howzit? 28022. Irving was such a presence in the Fray. He will be missed. 28025. theDiva - 6/14/2014 4:33:18 PM Hey, back at y'all!
My daughters are doing well.
Gracie is 27, newly wed to an absolutely wonderful man she has known since she was in junior high. BFA Sweet Briar, MA Johns Hopkins, now in a fellowship at Georgetown. Her husband is a computer engineer. They live about an hour north.
Rosie is 13, and we're homeschooling. Miss Entrepreneur has been running her own business - dog walking, pet sitting, mother's helper - since last August.
I'm finishing a degree in accounting, and my husband is a saint.
28026. theDiva - 6/14/2014 4:34:42 PM I wasn't sure what the general feeling was these days about personally identifying info, so I didn't post as much here as I did over at TPW. 28027. arkymalarky - 6/14/2014 5:08:22 PM Oh how nice! How wonderful about Gracie! I knew she was a bit younger than Mose but couldn't remember exactly. And Rosie 13! I remember you posting that you were "preggers"! 28028. theDiva - 6/14/2014 5:22:25 PM Thanks! Oh, and you should know that 'cookienanabutteronit - RAISIN BRAN' 28029. theDiva - 6/14/2014 5:22:51 PM oops,
is part of our family lexicon. 28030. arkymalarky - 6/14/2014 5:51:54 PM Hahaha! Love it! 28031. arkymalarky - 6/15/2014 3:21:08 AM I've been really bummed about Irv but not able to put a bead on it, but looking through archives at endings and beginnings today, I found where Irv guaranteed we would meet in person. After one missed opportunity that I really hated, I had just in the last few months thought I might make it happen if I could arrange to go his way while seeing other New England friends or persuade him to take another trip south when other moties are here. You set things aside, subconsciously assuming they will happen, and then a point comes where the opportunity has forever passed. It really makes me sad. Time and distance make you forget people and then they are beyond reach. We had a RL friend like that who died of lung cancer. They're important to a dear time of your life, but time and distance make you forget and then it's over and you didn't get to tell them how highly you thought of them and what dear, fond memories you have of time spent with them. They're not your best daily friends, but they had a special role in your life history and a rare connection to you that few other people have.
And now I'm crying. 28032. wabbit - 6/15/2014 2:20:44 PM I spent one long weekend many years ago in Seattle, meeting Fraygrants, visiting Slate (we were still the Fray then) and Michael Kinsley. Phillip David, Lemwalker, Spudboy, Mondaugen...Irv and I got hysterically turned around and lost trying to find our way back to his parent's house from Mondaugen's. We finally had to pull over and just laugh it off for about half an hour.
Over the course of the weekend I spent one night at Irv's brother's, one night with Spudboy and his wife, and the third night with Irv's parents. They are so sweet, as you would imagine.
I'm thinking of Irv's parents and particularly his dad this morning. They must be heartbroken. 28033. arkymalarky - 6/15/2014 3:48:57 PM Oh I know. I saw that they're still living. I've also wondered if people like that know. I assume they all do. And others like Thoughtful?
I can visualize that story even only having met one of you irl. The way it's been talked about over all these years, that whole Fray reunion experience must have been so wonderful. 28034. arkymalarky - 6/15/2014 3:50:01 PM People like Spud and PD and Mondaugen. 28035. arkymalarky - 6/15/2014 3:57:47 PM PP is the closest to Irv who might have any info on his family and friends. 28036. wabbit - 6/15/2014 4:50:23 PM I emailed Spudboy and JayAckroyd, and PD was at TPW last I knew. I don't know who might still be in touch with Mondaugen. The email addy I have for T'ful is no longer any good, but hopefully she'll stop in soon.
