Just popping in to say what an awesome time was had in the wilds of Arkansas. God I love hanging out with the crew there. I'm excited to try Ronnie's chicken and dumplings recipe once I get home. I'd like to master it for the Fall and Winter. I've got his number now, so I can bug him at any moment for tips!

I continued my life of leisure in the wilds of western Carolina --- my little brother and I are now thick as thieves. Like my Dad's wife a lot, and had a good time hanging out on yet another porch looking at beautiful country side.

Arrived in NYC Friday night and am having a relaxed blast here as well. We've been watching the World Cup from various locales, hanging out in Washington Square park, visiting with their friends and generally just being city-folk. My brother was like "Don't you want to see a show?" but I honestly don't care much about that. I think it would be cool to see STOMP, but I'd rather just hang out and soak up the city.

Spending the day today with my SiL while my brother is on a business day-trip. We're headed to lunch, to the bookstore and then just wandering around to see what kind of trouble we can get into.

Wabbit,

I'm so sorry to hear about your kitty. Cuddle up the others -- or at least those who will be cuddled.

hey nonny! So glad you're having such a good trip! It's pretty cool to get to be a city mouse and a country mouse within the space of a couple weeks!

MsNo, it's not like you can't see "Stomp" where you live....

Just the mention of Ronnie's Chicken and Dumplings makes me ravenous...

Judith, the stacking game I was trying to think of when you all were here is called the Tower of Hanoi, and it's also known as arkymalarky.

Anyone have advice or experience on woks on induction cook tops? It would have to be excessively flat-bottomed, and I fear it wouldn't heat very well anyway.

28064. iiibbb - 7/2/2014 3:57:01 PM

Here's one for $1300 CLICK

No experience, but I'm doubtful due to the lack of surface contact.

28065. iiibbb - 7/2/2014 3:58:14 PM

Here is the $30 option

just bought a small wok in bed bath and beyond. Couldn't find one anywhere besides Walmart, and it had a no stick coating that I didn't want.I'm waiting to get my car fixed and then picking up mom and dad from his doctors appointment and going home, and tomorrow I have to get allergy testing, which is awful, and when I get home from that I'm planting myself firmly at my house for about 10 days straight. Anybody who wants me to do anything that requires leaving it will have to fill out a form and take a number.

28067. judithathome - 7/2/2014 10:22:33 PM

Arks, it just occurred to me that next, you need a rice cooker. ;-)

28068. arkymalarky - 7/3/2014 12:22:16 AM

already got one of those, a really nice little rice cooker / vegetable steamer that I've already used and it works fantastic! got it right after y'all left.

28069. arkymalarky - 7/3/2014 1:24:53 AM

well when I got home this wok is almost as big as the other one. Sigh. I have absolutely no sense of proportion.

28070. arkymalarky - 7/3/2014 7:48:20 PM

fun times. Sitting in the room at the allergist's with 68 pricks on my back and 15 minutes before I can scratch myself to death.

28071. arkymalarky - 7/3/2014 7:48:45 PM

2 minutes since they did it and I feel if I don't scratch I'm going to die.

28072. arkymalarky - 7/3/2014 7:51:28 PM

okay. I really truly believe I'm highly allergic to all 68 things. I do not see why we need 15 minutes to find out.

28073. arkymalarky - 7/3/2014 7:53:19 PM

I brought stan in as a scratch prevention measure.

28074. arkymalarky - 7/3/2014 7:56:11 PM

I've got to figure out how to coerce stan into not telling if I scratch.

28075. arkymalarky - 7/3/2014 8:01:46 PM

another minute or two. Maybe I'll make it without scratching.

28076. arkymalarky - 7/3/2014 8:07:35 PM

Aaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhh.......

28077. alIstaIrcOnnOr - 7/4/2014 10:30:28 AM

Wow. I hope it helps, knowing we've got your back. Your needle story has got me in stitches. Etc. (I'll get my coat)
