another minute or two. Maybe I'll make it without scratching.

28076. arkymalarky - 7/3/2014 8:07:35 PM

Aaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhh.......

28077. alIstaIrcOnnOr - 7/4/2014 10:30:28 AM

Wow. I hope it helps, knowing we've got your back. Your needle story has got me in stitches. Etc. (I'll get my coat)

28078. judithathome - 7/4/2014 5:18:33 PM

Oh shoot! I thought you'd be here all week! :-)

28079. arkymalarky - 7/4/2014 7:44:27 PM

Ha! I started that to distract myself. Games weren't going to cut it. After two minutes I called Stan from the waiting room. He looked at his phone and droned on about getting his truck doors fixed and I started posting again because he was worse than useless. He said he was trying to distract me by just talking, but if I have tuned him out for over 30 years what made him think I'd be engaged at a time like that? I told the nurse that I was wishing for a Freddie Kruger nightmare by the time the 15 minutes was up. There Freddie...no, a little higher up and to the left.

28080. arkymalarky - 7/4/2014 8:20:01 PM

and seriously, no one came in and made a joke about me saying I had 68 pricks on my back?

28081. judithathome - 7/5/2014 1:15:19 AM

:-)

28082. Ms. No - 7/7/2014 1:57:48 PM

That's what I was wondering! It was my first inclination, but I wasn't here.

Ooh, I just noticed that typing a Mote post on my phone has no text-wrap. Wonder what that'll look like.

Currently in Connecticut where all is green and lovely.

28083. iiibbb - 7/7/2014 6:23:05 PM

Arky... it didn't sound out of the ordinary.

28084. arkymalarky - 7/7/2014 7:43:56 PM

It just occured to me reading Alistair's puns. one of those things that strikes you funny after the fact of being miserable. interestingly, I had that testing done in the same location I had my hysterectomy 9 years ago. And I still laugh about that incident, and was trying to figure out where my room was, which I had decided I could survive jumping from if the building was on fire. That's when Mose had come to see me and left out the fire exit and set off the fire alarm. About 4 hours after my surgery.

Connecticut! A friend is getting married in VT in August. I so wish I could go.

28085. arkymalarky - 7/7/2014 7:46:40 PM

Jumping with an iv and staples across my stomach. I was weighing that against burning up. No fun at the time, hilarious later.

28086. webfeet - 7/8/2014 1:43:27 AM

Arky, so after all that, did you find out what you are allergic to? Was it the Scented Candels in Bed, Bath and Beyond or Walmart? Or the fake frying pans? Or was it simply a deadly bumble bee?

Btw, anyone who still uses non-stick frying pans, you have to stop now. I think most of us are allergic to cancer.

Fun Fact: As anyone who doesn't know me knows, that I am fatally allergic to bees and they sting me (only in Europe) wherever I go. I have been stung indoors while sleeping in Spain at a friend's house in Catalonia (oh, Juanifer, we forgot to tell you--there waz a waspa nest outside your win-dow.); in the attic in the Alps where I am doomed, like an Edith Wharton heroine, to spend my summers; ah, bon? une gueppe? C'est pas une gueppe! C'est un frelon. Non, c'est une gueppe. They hibernate and then--poof! Waking up, even in winter, I have been stung indoors in the Alps. The only person in the entire family. Weird coinkydink? Anti-American? How do you explain Mother Nature's vendetta against me?
Paranoid? Non. Simply bugged. So, don't forget to bring an Epipen nevertheless on your summer travels. Some allergies can be deadly...

28087. arkymalarky - 7/8/2014 3:46:34 AM

according to my allergist I'm allergic to the earth. I had the first of these tests 12 years ago and I'm supposed to get them every three years. I looked at my old test sheet and I'm actually highly allergic to four fewer things than I was 12 years ago. I counted 28 highly allergic reactions on my sheet and I had 32 12 years ago.

28088. arkymalarky - 7/8/2014 3:49:41 AM

Bee allergies are really scary, for the reasons you stated. you never know where when so you always have to be prepared. I have an EpiPen, but thankfully I don't have those kinds of allergies or food allergies, just stuff that grows in Arkansas mostly. my inhaler is my trusty companion.

28089. Wombat - 7/11/2014 10:27:04 PM

Leaving tomorrow with Wombino on college-visiting road trip. Even further west than with Wombette three years ago. St. Louis, MO (Washington U.); Iowa City, IA (U. of Iowa); Galeburg, IL (Knox College); Chicago, IL (U. of Chicago); Oberlin, OH (Oberlin College); Gambier, OH (Kenyon College); Pittsburgh, PA (U. of Pittsburgh). Finally get to cross the Mississippi River!

28090. arkymalarky - 7/11/2014 10:49:20 PM

How nice! Hope you have a great and productive trip!

28091. judithathome - 7/12/2014 1:24:54 AM

Odd how no one ever comes to Texas for future educational prospects.

Sadly, I can completely understand why...

28092. Ms. No - 7/12/2014 2:42:14 AM

Called Ronnie today to verify the chicken and dumplings recipe. I'll be attempting it for the first time tomorrow -- wish me luck!

I am in the last leg of my summer tour -- I'm in Sugar Land with my folks. Mom and I will be road-tripping to San Antonio for a couple of days and we plan to make a day trip to Galveston. I'm also really looking forward to the end of this trip when my brother and s-i-l and the kids show up.

I'll get my act together and put together a real travelogue in the next day or two.

Message # 28063 Alistair, I have a DeBuyer Mineral B Element Country Cheff Iron Pan that works well with induction. It isn't a wok, you can't get the food up on the sides, but it's a very nice pan. Mine is 9.4", perfect for me, but you might want the 12.6". Like all iron pans, it's heavy and requires some care, but you'll have it forever.

28094. judithathome - 7/12/2014 5:32:20 PM

we plan to make a day trip to Galveston

Let me know if they still sell stuffed crabs on the boardwalk...or if there IS a boardwalk left...
