I just read about Scott also. He was the first person I met on the Fray way back in 94 or 95, I believe. I had just read an article about Slate, and went there, read the Fray and jumped in. I made a silly post, Irv corrected me, and I said, "I stand corrected. Orthopedic shoes, you know." And that started everything.

I remember things like when a bunch of us all started listening to the Fabulous Potato Heads CD at the same time, and everyone asked me questions about it.

I'm sorry I haven't been here in a long time, but work gets hectic, and IONA is still performing (I can't believe I've been in the band for almost 14 years!). In fact, Irv gave me my Mote password, and I'm still using it.

It's so good to see familiar names still posting here.

Oh, and we're going to see Bruce Cockburn at the Birchmere tomorrow. We've seen him about seven times before, and every time has been great, either solo acoustic, with a couple of backing musicians, or with a full band.

And, three in a row -- WOW! IONA is still on the right column of the page.

Hey!!! Chuck, it's great to see you! How's every little thing?

I'm embarking on my 7th year of teaching, back in Sacramento, not singing much of late, but planning to rectify that. Glad to hear IONA is still going strong.

Charlie!! So great to see you!

28164. alIstaIrcOnnOr - 8/21/2014 1:52:31 PM

Good grief CharlieL!! It's been far too long!

Um did I mention I've taken up singing?
No?

Then I won't mention it...

Wow. Irv. Gone. Like CharlieL I too jumped into the fray way back in 95. Good to see psuedo and other familiar names still popping in and out. Almost 20 years! lol Anyway, here's to those we once counted as friends and followed intently!

Hi, Christine, arky, Alistair. We're doing great. My dad still lives with us, he turned 89 back in April and is still doing pretty well.

Brenda and I saw Bruce Cockburn last night. A great show, and afterwards he came out to meet people and sign sutographs. He's a very nice person.

Alistair, what are you dinging? (I know, songs)

28167. don s. - 8/23/2014 12:56:18 AM

Just saw the news about Irv. Very sad. I found myself thinking about him from time to time and wondering whether he was online anywhere. I still have the koteka he brought me from Bali. One of my all-time favorite Internet people.

28168. judithathome - 8/23/2014 10:05:52 PM

Wow...he only gave me a fierce looking god to keep evil spirits away....ha!

28169. arkymalarky - 8/24/2014 2:23:00 AM

I have two sarongs. I need to wear them. I'm going to do that next week. He was so thoughtful™.

28170. bhelpuri - 8/24/2014 11:56:24 AM

trouserpilot!

It's amazing how many people Irv met in real life...and let's remember here he lived in Indonesia! One more reminder that he was one of a kind in so many ways, my heart really goes out to Pak Gurubesar and family.

28171. wabbit - 8/24/2014 4:21:34 PM

I have two paintings, look at them all the time and remember what a kind man Irv was.

Good to see everyone again!

28172. arkymalarky - 8/24/2014 4:39:22 PM

TP! I was trying to connect don s and was planning to lookin the archives. I hope you're well! Do you know how Elliot is doing?

28173. CharlieL - 8/26/2014 4:15:57 PM

arky, you do know that two sarongs don't make a right, don't you?

28174. judithathome - 8/26/2014 5:13:26 PM

Groan! I love it!! ;-)

28175. CharlieL - 8/26/2014 5:18:19 PM

Hi, Judith!

28176. arkymalarky - 8/26/2014 9:41:59 PM

Haha! You're punny!

28177. judithathome - 8/27/2014 5:44:04 PM

Hey, Charlie! Stick around...never know who you'll run into!

28178. don s. - 8/28/2014 6:03:36 AM

I think that's what he's afraid of.

arkymalarky, I haven't run into Elliot in years. Actually, the last time was in the early 2000s, when he had just become a U.S. citizen and was looking forward to voting in his first election. I'm going to say that election was 2004. Lot of good it did.
