22. So she conceived him, and she withdrew with him to a far place (i.e. Bethlehem Valley approx. 4-6 miles from Jerusalem).
23. And the pains of childbirth drove her to the trunk of a date-palm. She said, "Would that I had died before this, and had been forgotten and out of sight!"
24. Then he cried unto her from below her, saying, "Grieve not! Your Lord has provided a stream of water under you."
25. "And shake the trunk of the date-palm towards you, it will let to fall upon you fresh ripe dates."
26. "So eat and drink and be glad, and if you see any human being, say: 'Verily! I have vowed a fast unto the Most Beneficent (Allah) so, this day, I shall not speak to any human.'"
27. Then she brought him (the baby) to her people, carrying him. They said, "O' Mary! Indeed you have brought a thing 'Fariya' (an unheard, mighty thing)."
28. "O' sister (i.e. the like) of Aaron [a pious man at the time of Mary (not the brother of Moses)]! Your father was not a man who used to commit adultery, nor was your mother an unchaste woman."
29. Then she pointed to him. They said: "How can we talk to one who is a child in the cradle? "
30. "He (Jesus) said: Verily! I am a servant of Allah, He has given me the Scripture and made me a Prophet;"
31. "And He has made me blessed wheresoever I be, and has enjoined on me prayer, and charity, as long as I live."
32. "And (made me) dutiful to my mother, and did not make me arrogant, unblest.
33. "And peace be upon me the day I was born, and the day I die, and the day I shall be raised alive!"
34. Such is Jesus, son of Mary. (it is) a statement of truth, about which they doubt (or dispute).
35. It befits not (the Majesty of) Allah that He should beget a son. Glorified (and Exalted be He above all that they associate with Him). When He decrees a thing, He only says to it, "Be!" and it is.
36. (Jesus) said: "And verily Allah is my Lord and your Lord. So worship Him (Alone). That is the Straight Path (Allah's Religion of Islamic Monotheism which He did ordain for all of His Prophets)."
37. Then the sects differed [i.e. the Christians about Jesus] so woe unto the disbelievers [those who gave false witness by saying that Jesus is the son of Allah] from the meeting of a Great Day.
38. How clearly will they (polytheists and disbelievers in the Oneness of Allah) see and hear, the Day when they will appear before Us! But the Zalimūn (polytheists and wrong-doers) today are in plain error.
39. And warn them (O' Muhammad ) of the Day of grief and regrets, when the case has been decided, while (now) they are in a state of carelessness, and they believe not.
40. Verily! We will inherit the earth and whatsoever is upon it. And to Us they shall all be returned.
(19:22-40)

48. And He (Allah) will teach him [Jesus] the Book and the Wisdom, (and) the Torah and the Gospel.
49. And will make him (Jesus) a Messenger to the Children of Israel (saying): "I have come to you with a sign from your Lord (Allah), that I fashion for you out of clay, as it were, the figure of a bird, and breathe into it, and it becomes a bird by Allah's Leave; and I heal the blind one, and the leper, and I bring the dead to life by Allah's Leave. And I inform you of what you eat, and what you store in your houses. Surely, therein is a Sign for you, if you believe.
50. And I have come confirming what was before me of the Torah, and to make lawful to you part of what was forbidden to you, and I have come to you with a proof from your Lord. So fear Allah and obey me.
51. Truly! Allah is my Lord and your Lord, so worship Him (Alone). This is the Straight Path.
52. Then when Jesus came to know of their disbelief, he said: "Who will be my Helpers in Allah's Cause?" the Disciples said: "We are the Helpers of Allah; we believe in Allah, and bear witness that we are Muslims (we are submitting our selves to Allah)."
53. Our Lord! We believe in what You have sent down, and we follow the Messenger (Jesus); so write us down among those who bear witness (to the truth i.e. Lā ilāha ill-Allah - none has the right to be worshipped except Allah).
54. And they (the disbelievers) plotted (to kill Jesus) but Allah also planned. And Allah is the Best of the planners.
55. And (remember) when Allah said: "O' Jesus! I will take you and raise you to Myself and clear you (of the forged statement that Jesus is Allah's son) of those who disbelieve, and I will make those who follow you (the Monotheists, who worship none except Allah) superior to those who disbelieve until the Day of Resurrection. Then you (all) will return to Me and I will judge between you in the matters in which you used to dispute."
On that last point, Islam's befuddlement and that of the Jews is strikingly similar. At the same time it is worth noting that Muslims are much closer to the Christian God than the Jews precisely because of their beliefs about Jesus, Mary, the Resurrection, the Last Days etc 28738. jexster - 11/2/2006 5:54:47 PM Thers is no Compulsion in Religion
19:64. Say (O' Muhammad): "O' people of the Scripture (Jews and Christians): Come to a word that is just between us and you, that we worship none except Allah, and that we associate no partners with Him, and that none of us shall take others as lords besides Allah. Then, if they turn away, say: "Bear witness that we are Muslims (we are submitting ourselves to Allah)."
"Strongest among men in enmity to the believers (Muslims) wilt thou find the Jews and Pagans; and nearest among them in love to the believers wilt thou find those who say, 'We are Christians': because amongst these are men devoted to learning and men who have renounced the world, and they are not arrogant. (The Noble Quran, 5:82)"

28742. judithathome - 11/3/2006 6:45:32 PM Just read transcripts of voice mail over at my forum. Seems old Ted was addicted to meth. 28743. judithathome - 11/3/2006 6:47:42 PM You can see it HERE 28744. jexster - 11/5/2006 2:59:41 AM It would seem that those who criticize another's religion would at least firt make an honest effort to know something about it.
Here we have seen examples ad nauseum of persons doing exactly the opposite, condemning out of ignorance, bigotry, hate.
Those who care to know what they are talking about before they talk about it should watch Muhammad: The Legacy of a Prophet. Particularly moving and illuminating on many of the matters discussed here is found in the last 20 minutes in which Mohammed's Final Hajj Sermon on the Plain of Arafat is discussed.
In the sermon, Muhammed condemns the violence and tribal revenge killings that marked his life from birth. Muslim believe the Sermon to be a summary of the teachings of the Quran.
Those genuinely interest in learning before they speak should read a collection of essays by American Muslims:

28745. jexster - 11/5/2006 3:14:16 AM The Final Sermon of the Prophet Muhammd
In essence, though not in substance, this Farewell Sermon of the Prophet is similar to the Jesus's Farewell Discourses in the Last Gospel.
Jesus Prays for All Believers
20"My prayer is not for them alone. I pray also for those who will believe in me through their message, 21that all of them may be one, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you. May they also be in us so that the world may believe that you have sent me. 22I have given them the glory that you gave me, that they may be one as we are one: 23I in them and you in me. May they be brought to complete unity to let the world know that you sent me and have loved them even as you have loved me. 24"Father, I want those you have given me to be with me where I am, and to see my glory, the glory you have given me because you loved me before the creation of the world. 25"Righteous Father, though the world does not know you, I know you, and they know that you have sent me. 26I have made you known to them, and will continue to make you known in order that the love you have for me may be in them and that I myself may be in them."

There are lots of religions and they can't all be right.
Gosh, I guess if you're really lucky, you might be born into a family that believes in the only true religion.
28751. concerned - 11/5/2006 6:54:25 AM Give me a break, Winston. 28752. concerned - 11/5/2006 7:03:46 AM I don't think you have shit worth reading on religion. 28753. judithathome - 11/5/2006 7:06:13 AM I'm flattered you read there, Jen. 28754. judithathome - 11/5/2006 7:07:36 AM You are damned lucky I don't return the favor and quote some of the stuff you and Ruth have to say. But to do that, I'd have to read over there and it makes me ill. 28755. judithathome - 11/5/2006 7:32:32 AM Ted Haggard dismissed from New Life Church
The board of overseers announced today that Pastor Ted Haggard will be dismissed from New Life Church. The board, comprised of four pastors outside New Life, said in a statement Haggard "had commited sexually immoral conduct."
The actual quote from the church's statement says:
We, the Overseer Board of New Life Church, have concluded our deliberations concerning the moral failings of Pastor Ted Haggard. Our investigation and Pastor Haggards public statements have proven without a doubt that he has committed sexually immoral conduct.
So, Jen, are they wrong or is it as we thought...the man is a lying hypocrite.
