Thanks, guys! We had our favorite champagne and grapes and cheeses and assorted other things y'all would love!

In my family it's known that I have "dog hearing" - not so much that I hear high pitched sound, but I hear things that most people don't, things that are quiet or inaudible to others. I hear way more than I want to hear. I can hear conversations two or sometimes three tables away in a restaurant, or in the next room

OMG!! I have that, TOO! I have been chided SO many times for "over-hearing" shit from way far away.....!!!

Wabbit...you and I should team up and be Private Detectives!!!

28937. Ms. No - 2/19/2017 9:21:41 PM

Yeah, I could never do that. I'd be on a stakeout, somebody'd eat a Corn Nut and I'd freak out and kill everyone.

MsNo, you've been to our house...I can hear Harley (the siamese) jump down from the living room window seat when I'm in the den...with the TV on and it set at 31 on the volume.

Keoni can't hear his phone if he's in the den and the phone is in the dining room. (Which, for those of you haven't BEEN here...is the next room.)

28939. Ms. No - 2/19/2017 11:18:54 PM

Keoni is so Zen.

28940. judithathome - 2/20/2017 12:03:08 AM

You have NO idea....

Well, yes actually, you DO...why, after all, would he even need to KNOW the cat has jumped down from the window seat......HAR!

28941. judithathome - 2/20/2017 12:13:44 AM

By the way...Keoni says "Hey!" and that you are lookin' good!

And he, like I, wanna know if you're coming this way any time soon? You know you have a place to stay and a great place to "dine" if you are in the neighborhood!

28942. Ms. No - 2/20/2017 8:39:53 PM

Thanks, Keoni!

I have no idea when I'll get out Texas-way again. I really miss seeing you guys, though. This summer is heavy traveling for me to see family. I haven't been out to NC to see my dad in almost 3 years, so I'm going to swing down NC-way after Hoboken in July/Aug. The west-coast fam is meeting in Mazatlan for a big congruence of anniversaries and milestone birthdays in June.

I'll look into doing a multi-leg trip like I did last time I was out and see if I can manage it.

Went to see Get Out with a friend last night -- excellent little film. Scary as shit, truly horrific, and the constant undercurrent of racial tension is spot-on political commentary.

Roll Over Beethoven: Chuck Berry is dead at 90.

28945. arkymalarky - 3/23/2017 4:38:57 PM

Robert! How is everything? We sure hope if you and your wife come back through you give us a holler and we can have lunch again. That was so much fun!

28946. arkymalarky - 3/23/2017 4:39:47 PM

I want to see get out, but I'm afraid to see it. I don't generally do scary movies. I'm just too jumpy. I make an idiot out of myself.

28947. Ms. No - 3/24/2017 2:20:07 AM

It's not supernatural scary; it's psychological/suspense scary.

No ghosts or serial killers or cats jumping out of cupboards or co-eds wandering around in the dark in their underwear.

I think you can handle it.

28948. arkymalarky - 3/24/2017 7:44:23 AM

The supernatural stuff bothers me a lot less than the realistic stuff. Stuff that could really happen is what scares the crap out of me. And I can't stand Blood and Guts even in non scary movies. Is it very bloody?

28949. arkymalarky - 3/24/2017 7:46:31 AM

And I'm not good with jump-scares. I don't enjoy them.

28950. arkymalarky - 3/24/2017 7:48:58 AM

I love the Kill Bill movies and The Matrix movies but I still can't watch the bloody or vicious Parts. I just skip past those and watch the rest for the other things that make them great movies.

28951. Ms. No - 3/24/2017 4:45:04 PM

No, it isn't particularly bloody. There is a little bit, but it's not something that stood out to me --- infinitely less than a Tarantino film -- and only a couple of jump scares that I recall. Mostly it's a pervasive feeling of something just isn't quite right.

Have you ever seen a French film called "With a Friend Like Harry?" Nothing really overt happens, but there's this building feeling of dread. I'm remembering something about a kitchen scene with an egg and nothing that you can point to as wrong, but you just know that it is. I'm thinking I need to go back and see this film again, now that I've mentioned it.

28952. arkymalarky - 3/24/2017 6:35:12 PM

Thanks for the info! I usually have Mose give me my movie information, but since grandkid she hasn't been to a single movie.

And speaking of that, we just got back from our grandkid fix for spring break, and I'm ready to go back. I think I'm going to teach one more year, but man it's hard when you just want to play with grandkid and putter around your house and yard.

28953. arkymalarky - 3/24/2017 6:40:08 PM

Oh, and I've never seen that movie, but I get what you're saying. one scary movie I did enjoy was mama. If I buy the premise I enjoy it, and if I don't I can't take it seriously, but whether it's scary or suspenseful my heart rate goes too fast to really like that. I still haven't seen Django Unchained, that's been on my DVR for year. Of course Mama wasn't rated R, so nothing was too bloody.

Another thing I hate is slime and it really irritates me that the advertisements for the movie life has that slimy thing going in his mouth or coming out of his mouth, I can't watch it long enough to see what it's doing. That's what bugged me most about the one Rob Zombie 2 minutes of a movie I accidentally watched on the way to somewhere else. It wasn't the blood and guts it was the Slime of the blood and guts.

28954. arkymalarky - 3/24/2017 6:41:52 PM

Alien was so great, but even though I've seen it so many times I still can't watch where the alien jumps out of his chest.
