Suddenly, summer.

The wild cherry in blossom. Daughter is digging up the last of the leeks, otherwise they would be gone to seed by Monday. Yesterday it was 30°C in town. Barbecue season.

Kwanzan cherry in Brooklyn:

Virginia bluebells (Mertensia), also in Brooklyn:

Btw, Alistair, I love that little stone bridge. Do have any water-loving irises planted by what I assume is a stream, below it?

A Christmas amaryllis, finally getting around to bloom:

Ronski: the volume of the stream is highly variable, it overflows into the stream a couple of times a year. Anything planted near it needs to be very sturdy, or will be ripped out when it's in flood. Only trees survive.

Where is that scene? The Alps?

2979. Magoseph - 5/2/2005 1:27:45 PM

Wonk, I went back and couldn't find the post anymore--so I don't know where that one above comes from--sorry about that.

2980. thoughtful - 5/2/2005 1:35:34 PM

what an incredible picture!

2981. PelleNilsson - 5/2/2005 4:24:30 PM

But I know. It's from Death Valley, California.

2982. Magoseph - 5/2/2005 4:40:36 PM

Great, thank you, Pelle--did I ever tell you how much I revere you?

2983. thoughtful - 5/2/2005 9:13:04 PM

Of course, that's not what I think of when I think of death valley...I think of unbearably hot and dry...

and mysterious. There is this weird rock thing going on where they seem to move and no one knows why and no one has ever seen them move...but there it is. Weirder than crop circles.

2984. alistairConnor - 5/2/2005 9:19:21 PM

Crop circles are well-documented hoaxes.

That rock seems to leave a sort of a snail trail behind it when it moves.

2985. thoughtful - 5/3/2005 4:40:33 PM

what's interesting is the track it's left is consistent suggesting it wasn't rolled but dragged along the surface.

I made chicken quesadillas last night. I really love them and they're so easy and good for you too. We use only whole wheat tortillas.

onion, pepper, jalapeno, tomato, cilantro, cumin, garlic, cooked chicken all sauteed together in olive oil, then out comes the cast iron fry pan and toast a tortilla on one side, flip then put some shredded cheddar, chicken filling and more shredded cheddar on 1/2 of the tortilla and fold it in half. Serve with sour cream and salsa. Yum.

Wabbit, I love that Moss site...did you see the little parakeet?

2989. judithathome - 5/7/2005 4:33:19 PM

Oh, yum...that sounds really good! 'Fraid I'll have to make an elaborate plan to fool Keoni into thinking it is some other sort of food, though...he hates Mexican food.

Maybe I could pass it off as Central American...South American....Chilean!

Some flowers from my yard for all the Mothers out there. Happy Mother's Day!
