Sorry folks. Post #311 screws up the margins but if you set number of posts to ten, things will be normal when you move forward, 323. CoralReef - 9/25/1999 9:26:38 PM Pelle don't worry about it, if you're going to mess up margins, the test thread is the place where it happens.
Generating enough posts so that it scrolls off the screen won't work, as some people view more than 10 or 20 at a time. I have it on 80 right now, for example.
It's an interesting picture. Of course if that was America it would have to have a footnote "The green area at the bottom is now a three-story mall with a 500-car parking lot."
Thank god there's only one America, eh?
324. CoralReef - 9/25/1999 9:32:52 PM The thread host can easily fix this by deleting the post with the picture. 325. pellenilsson - 9/25/1999 9:41:27 PM CoralReef
That green area is called 'Skeppsholmen', literary 'Ships Islet' and is where the navy shipyards were once. The great warship Vasa sank in 1628 on its maiden voyage from there. It was brought up in the 1960's and has been restored to its former glory. A must see for anybody visiting Stockholm.
The greenery is deceptive. There are quite a few buildings there, most of them from the 18th century, but also the new Museum of Modern Art which was opened last year. 326. wabbit - 9/25/1999 10:01:42 PM Pelle,
Reefer is right, this is the place to mess up the margins, don't worry about it. I'm disinclined to delete those kinds of things in this thread, because they serve as examples of what not to do in the other threads. 327. dusty - 9/26/1999 1:33:23 AM 328. dusty - 9/26/1999 1:38:33 AM wabbit
I've replaced Pelle's pic with one that doesn't stretch the margin quite so much.
As soon as I am given the powers from wabbit, and get Pelle's permission, I'll remove the offending post, and discuss some helpful hints for avoiding the problem in the future. 329. wabbit - 9/26/1999 3:47:14 AM dusty,
It's all yours! 330. pellenilsson - 9/26/1999 7:49:08 PM dusty
Welcome as host! Please delete my pic. 331. pellenilsson - 9/26/1999 7:56:35 PM When dusty has removed the offending pic you might want to check my #308-310 where I discuss how to transfer tables and graphs from Excel to the Mote. 332. Dusty - 9/26/1999 9:09:00 PM pellenilsson
Yes, that was very interesting, and I plan to use it. Thanks. 333. IrvingSnodgrass - 9/27/1999 2:26:40 AM Suggestion for new thread name: "Check for Dusty" 335. CoralReef - 9/27/1999 2:56:48 AM
Testing. 336. Dusty - 9/27/1999 2:57:23 AM A couple comments on Posting images. (I'll add these to the HTML Hints page eventually.)
Pelle's image suffered two problems. One, it was overly large, and two, it wasn't cropped. There was a large expanse of white area around the picture itself. I cropped the white space, and then adjusted the size.
Based upon some crude experiments, I believe the posting area has a width of 425 pixels. While this shouldn't be viewed as an absolute restriction, be aware that posting an image with a width greater than 425 will push the margin to the right. A little bit may be acceptable if the image requires more size to be seen correctly, but increasing it too much will distort the page.
